  • Patent number: 7687114
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for metallic coating of fibers by liquid technique, in which a fiber, coated with a material forming a diffusion barrier with the metal, is drawn through a liquid metal bath to be coated therewith. The method is characterized in that prior to the passage of the fiber into the bath, the fiber is coated with a compound wettable by the metal. The coating of the fiber by the metal is facilitated by the presence of the compound, forming an interface wettable by the metal.

  • Patent number: 4659593
Abstract: The present invention concerns processes for making composite materials. The process is characterized essentially by the fact that it consists in making a fibrous preform 1, in pre-treating this fibrous preform by a fluorine containing flux 3 and in wetting the said pre-treated preform by a light alloy.Utilization for the making of composite pieces with a fibrous armature such as carbon wet by a light aluminum-based alloy.

  • Patent number: 4176002
Abstract: A method and apparatus for controlling a heated bath of molten material to obtain controlled solidification, wherein the molten bath is kept in constant rotational movement relative to the solid portion of the material being treated and the mechanical action due to the viscous friction which develops in the bath is detected and thereby controlled, said method being applicable to the floating zone method and the Czochralsky crystal drawing method and being capable of producing ingots of high dimensional regularity.
