  • Patent number: 8599477
Abstract: A system for homogenizing a laser pulse emitted by a laser source in order to illuminate a target homogeneously, the system having, between the laser source and the target: a phase plate constituted by a plurality of subpupils capable of generating a plurality of delayed laser beams towards the target, the path difference ?d between two adjacent delayed laser beams being greater than or equal to the length of the temporal coherence Tc of the laser pulse, and focusing device; wherein the subpupils and the focusing device are adjusted so that the delayed laser beams are superimposed on the target in a homogeneous spot.

  • Publication number: 20120300302
Abstract: A method for producing a reflective diffraction grating. The diffraction grating includes a stack of at least four dielectric material layers, and an upper dielectric material layer that is etched to form grooves of the diffraction grating having a predetermined pitch, The diffraction grating is produced by selecting the number and the nature of the dielectric material layers, digitally computing the reflection and/or transmission efficiencies of at least one of the orders of diffraction of the diffraction grating for a sample of frequencies of the spectral range of use for each of several predetermined diffraction grating configurations while varying the thicknesses of the at least four layers and at least one of the etching parameters of the upper layer, and selecting, from among the computed configurations, at least one configuration depending on the use of the grating.

  • Patent number: 7782914
Abstract: A device for generating a high-energy particle pulse is provided which comprises a laser system producing laser pulses with pulse length shorter than 100 fs (femtoseconds), and capable to be focused to peak intensities greater than 10A18 W/cmA2, preferred greater than 10A20 W/cmA2 (watts per centimeter squared), a device for shaping the temporal intensity profile accompanying said at least one laser pulse for increasing the laser contrast above 10^5, preferably above IL 0A7, especially 1OA10, and a target capable of releasing a high-energy particle pulse, particularly an electron or a proton pulse, upon irradiation with at least one of said laser pulses. A. corresponding method using the device is also described.

  • Patent number: 5049756
Abstract: A method of detecting a heat source in an area to be watched consists of disposing a detector on a support elevated with respect to the area to effect a sweeping motion at least in a horizontal plane. Points in the area to be watched are defined by the angular position of the detector in the horizontal and vertical planes when the detector is directed toward a point and by at least one associated additional data element that impounds the geographic position of the point in a predetermined reference system.

  • Patent number: 4893026
Abstract: A station for locating through laser rays an object likely to diffuse back a part of the incident laser ray, wherein the optical emitter and receiver devices consist of one single device comprising, in the direction of emission, a device for separating the emitted and retrodiffused rays, an optical device converting the emitted parallel beam of small diameter into a divergent beam and a telescope adapted to collimate the divergent beam received from the optical device into a parallel beam of larger diameter, the retrodiffused beam travelling that path in the direction reverse from the emitted beam, the invention being usable for detecting in particular forest fire smokes.
