  • Publication number: 20240104846
Abstract: A modeling system displays a three-dimensional (3D) space including a 3D object including a plurality of points and a cage model of the 3D object including a first configuration of vertices and quad faces. Each of the plurality of points is located at a respective initial location. The modeling system generates cage coordinates for the cage model including a vertex coordinate for each vertex of the cage model and four quad coordinates for each quad face of the cage model corresponding to each corner vertex of the quad. The modeling system deforms, responsive to receiving a request, the cage model to change the first configuration of vertices to a second configuration. The modeling system generates, based on the cage coordinates, the first configuration of vertices, and the second configuration of vertices, an updated 3D object by determining a subsequent location for each of the plurality of points.

  • Patent number: 4858705
Abstract: An assembly for driving a drilling tool in rotation about an axis related to the drilling tool from a drive column, rotating at its lower end about a second axis, with the axes being substantially convergent at the same point and forming therebetween an angle alpha. The assembly comprises in combination a remote controlled deflector adapted for creating a deviation of an angle alpha, a controller for controlling the value of the angle alpha, a guide for rotating a drilling tool and the drive column at its lower end about the axes relatively to the deflector and a controller for controlling the polar position of the deflector relatively to second axis.

  • Patent number: 4343370
Abstract: This turbo-coring device comprises a tubular body provided with a coring bit and surrounded by a following pipe provided by a reaming bit. The tubular body is connected to the turbine through a fluid distributor having a side opening for discharging above the following pipe in the annular space between the device and the borehole wall a fraction of the fluid leaving the turbine, while the remaining fraction feeds the tubular body. The following pipe is connected to the outer wall of the fluid distributor through releasable bayonet type latching means.Means are provided for automatically closing the fluid discharge opening when the lower part of the tubular body becomes obturated by ground formations and an annular sealing packer is positioned between the tubular body and the following pipe.

  • Patent number: 4145014
Abstract: This device comprises means for handling a flexible elongate member, in combination with means for automatically controlling said handling means in response to a detected deformation of the loop portion formed by the flexible member near the storage basket, so as to bring this loop portion back to a preselected geometrical configuration.

  • Patent number: 4013100
Abstract: The invention relates to a flexible elongated member provided with a reinforcing armouring formed by profiled rods. The convolutions of said reinforcing armouring are wound in such a manner that the moment of inertia of the cross section of the profiled rods is maximum with respect to an axis perpendicular to a radial direction of the elongated member.

  • Patent number: 4013205
Abstract: A new type of gripping shoe for traction devices of the caterpillar type, comprising a deformable element of composite structure. The deformable element comprises a body member which is mechanically resistant, deformable and of low elasticity. This body member is provided with a large internal recess housing a sole member of a highly deformable, elastic and substantially incompressible material.

  • Patent number: 3941146
Abstract: The present invention relates to an apparatus or device for storing elongated flexible elements, such as drilling pipe, in a coiled form. This apparatus includes an inner cylindrical framework supported about a vertical axis, an outer cylindrical framework concentrically separated from the inner framework and connected thereto by an annular base plate closing the bottom of the apparatus. The space between the inner and outer frameworks is open at the top to receive the elongated elements, and the annular base plate is formed of a plurality of annular sector elements connected together in such a manner as to allow a vertical displacement of respective adjacent elements with respect to one another. Various means for connecting adjacent elements are provided. Moreover, various driving and supporting members are provided for rotating the apparatus about the vertical axis.
