  • Patent number: 5262095
Abstract: This device comprises a packet of corrugated plates (3) each disposed in a generally vertical plane, the corrugations being oblique and descending in opposite directions from one plate to the following plate. Each corrugation valley (5) having a lower end opening out laterally includes an projecting obstacle (7) in the vicinity of this lower end.Application in air distillation columns.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 23, 1992
Date of Patent: November 16, 1993
Assignee: l'Air Liquide, Societe Anonyme pour l'Etude et l'Exploitation des Procedes Georges Claude
Inventors: Maurice Bosquain, Jean-Yves Lehman, Francois Darchis, Bruno Leprince-Ringuet
  • Patent number: 5224351
Abstract: This column, of the type having a cross-undulating lining, includes means for returning liquid to the vicinity of the edges of the lining and liquid and gas distribution means which contribute to decrease substantially the height of the column. Application to plants for separating gases from air.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 5, 1991
Date of Patent: July 6, 1993
Assignee: L'Air Liquide, Societe Anonyme pour l'Etude et l'Exploitation des Procedes Georges Claude
    Inventors: Pierre Jeannot, Jean-Yves Lehman
  • Patent number: 5154859
Abstract: A jacket encloses a packet of corrugated plates (3) each disposed in a generally vertical plane, the corrugations being oblique and descending in opposite directions from one plate to the following plate. Each corrugation valley (5) has a lower end opening out laterally which includes a projecting obstacle (7) in the vicinity of this lower end. In this way, liquid that would otherwise accumulate on the vertical walls of the jacket, where it would participate relatively little in heat and material exchange, is instead diverted toward the interior.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 15, 1991
Date of Patent: October 13, 1992
Assignee: L'Air Liquide, Societe Anonyme pour l'Etude et l'Exploitation des Procedes Georges Claude
Inventors: Maurice Bosquain, Jean-Yves Lehman, Franqois Darchis, Bruno LePrince-Ringuet
  • Patent number: 5132055
Abstract: This distributor comprises: a peripheral crown; a series of vertical partitions fixedly mounted on the crown at both ends thereof and extending parallel to one another; sealingly closing means bounding, between the vertical partitions, alternate spaces for collecting gas and liquid; means enabling the upward evacuation of the gas contained in the spaces for collecting gas; and a perforated bottom disposed at the base of each liquid collecting space and sealingly connected to the or each adjacent vertical partition and to the crown. Application to air distillation columns.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 12, 1990
Date of Patent: July 21, 1992

  • Patent number: 5033502
Abstract: The gas which comes from a source passes through a regulating valve, then through a heat exchanger and is sent to the network through a production duct. The heat exchanger thus acts as a muffler. Application to the supplying of gas from air separation.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 9, 1990
Date of Patent: July 23, 1991
Assignee: L'Air Liquide, Societe Anonyme pour l'Etude et l'Exploitation des Procedes Georges Claude
    Inventors: Maurice Bosquain, Jean-Yves Lehman
  • Patent number: 4541851
Abstract: The case 2 of the container 1 having a vertical axis X-X contains two adsorbent beds 3,4 in the form of sleeves retained by three cylindrical grates 5, 6, 7. The intermediate grate 6 is axially rigid and radially flexible while the innermost and outermost grates 5,7 are axially flexible and radially rigid. This enables the container and the adsorbent beds to support without damage the successive heating and cooling stages in the course of the adsorbent regeneration stages. Application to the purification of large amounts of air intended to be distilled.
