  • Patent number: 10518198
Abstract: A filter cartridge having an endplate formed of polyurethane having a varying hardness is described. A first portion of the endplate is harder than a second portion of the endplate. The first portion of the endplate helps support the filter media of the filter element and maintain the shape of the filter element. The second, softer portion creates a seal between the filter element and a filter housing when the filter element is installed in the filter housing. The first portion and separate portions may be formed from different types of polyurethane or from the same type of polyurethane having a varying composition as a function of the radial distance of the endplate.

  • Publication number: 20180274505
Abstract: A fuel filter system that does not require the periodic draining of a water sump. The system includes a fuel tank for storing fuel and a fuel filter fluidly coupled to the fuel tank for separating water from the fuel. A fuel pump has a suction side and a high pressure side. The high pressure side of the fuel pump is fluidly coupled to the fuel filter for pumping fuel to the fuel filter. A water emulsifier, such as an orifice, is fluidly coupled to the fuel filter to receive water and fuel from the fuel filter and form a water-fuel emulsion. The water-fuel emulsion is supplied to any point in the system on the suction side of the fuel pump, such that the water-fuel emulsion passes through the fuel pump and fuel filter.

  • Patent number: 8551335
Abstract: A dual stage filter includes an outer filter with a first media and an inner filter with a second media. A barrier is between the first media and the second media. The barrier directs fluid flow between the first and second media. The barrier creates a flow path between the first and second media, such that a working fluid, which is desired to pass through the first and second media, is directed by the barrier and flows through the second media, and such that another fluid, which is not desired to pass through the second media, is directed by the barrier and separates from the working fluid. Using the barrier, the dual stage filter can employ either or both upward flow and downward flow to achieve efficient fluid separation, for example fuel water separation in an engine fuel filter.

  • Patent number: 8105484
Abstract: According to one representative embodiment, a fluid storage device for storing a first fluid in a second fluid storage container fillable with a second fluid includes a first fluid storage container, a first fluid inlet coupled to the first fluid storage container, and a first fluid outlet coupled to the first fluid storage container. The first fluid storage container is flexible. The first fluid inlet is communicable in fluid receiving communication with a first fluid source. The first fluid in the first fluid storage container is caused to drain from the first fluid outlet based on at least one of a first fluid level, a first fluid storage container pressure, a second fluid storage container pressure, the second fluid storage container filling with the second fluid, the first fluid outlet being opened for first fluid egress, and a first fluid outlet pressure.
