  • Patent number: 9143748
Abstract: A method and system are disclosed for differential distortion correction for use in the three-dimensional (3D) projection of film-based or digital images. A compensation transform determined based on distortion information can be applied to image data to compensate for distortions in stereoscopic images for 3D projection. Different approaches can be used for obtaining the compensation transform.

    Assignee: Thomson Licensing
Inventors: Mark J. Huber, William Gibbens Redmann, Jed Harmsen
  • Patent number: 9140974
Abstract: A method for use with 3-dimensional or stereoscopic projection is disclosed, with crosstalk and differential distortion compensations provided for stereoscopic images in a presentation such that the projected images will have reduced crosstalk and differential distortion.
    Type: Grant

  • Publication number: 20140225995
Abstract: A method and system are disclosed for producing a crosstalk-compensated film or digital image file for use in stereoscopic presentation. Expected crosstalks for all pixels in respective first and second images of a stereoscopic image pair are determined based on brightness measurements obtained for projected first and second test images. A crosstalk-compensated film or digital image file can be produced with pixel values or film densities adjusted for all pixels based on the expected crosstalks.

  • Publication number: 20140176743
Abstract: Provided are a method, apparatus and system for publishing creative looks in a camera using three dimensional look-up tables. The system includes a user input device for defining a set of parameters directed to generating a creative look, a creative look generator for generating a respective three-dimensional lookup table for each set of defined parameters, each three-dimensional lookup table representing a respective creative look and a creative look publisher for enabling the selection of at least one creative look to be applied to at least one image captured by the camera.

  • Publication number: 20120092757
Abstract: An over/under lens for projecting a 3D film print possesses a circular polarization module that includes a clockwise circular polarization filter assembly and a counterclockwise circular polarization filter assembly. The clockwise and counterclockwise circular polarization filter assemblies advantageously limit cross talk occurring between left-eye and right eye images, thus improving the viewing experience.

  • Publication number: 20100328612
Abstract: A system and method for use in projecting stereoscopic images for three-dimensional presentation are disclosed. The system includes a dual-lens configuration for imparting different circular polarizations to two sets of images such that one set of images has a polarization orientation orthogonal to that of the other set of images. The dual-lens system includes at least one component for enhancing heat transfer among various elements in the system.
