  • Patent number: 7640897
Abstract: A method of cooling a radiator in an internal combustion engine wherein a plurality of fan assemblies is provided. Specifically, each fan assembly has a housing with an interior containing a fan blade and an exterior having six sides to form a hexagonal perimeter. The fan assemblies are then arranged side by side to form a cluster of fan assemblies in order to maximize the amount of fan assemblies that may be provided on an enclosure. The cluster of fan assemblies is then placed adjacent to a radiator to control the air flow over the radiator in order to cool the engine.

  • Patent number: 7299629
Abstract: A charge pump is provided with two independent outlets that can satisfy the pressure requirements of both a charge circuit and an auxiliary circuit. Preferably, the charge pump is a multiple roller vane pump that has at least one inlet and two outlets independent of each other. The first outlet is in fluid communication with a charge circuit, and the second outlet is in fluid communication with an auxiliary circuit. Because the two outlets are independent of each other, the roller vane pump is able to satisfy the pressure requirements of both the charge and auxiliary circuits. Preferably, the two outlets are diametrically opposed to each other, thereby reducing the load on the driveshaft. Additionally, the roller vane pump may include a second inlet independent of the first.

  • Patent number: 6510779
Abstract: An electronic bore pressure optimization mechanism for dynamically varying the cylinder block piston bore pressure profile in a multiple piston hydraulic unit includes a valve means having a variable orifice disposed in the end cap for metering fluid between leading and trailing pistons in a transition region or between a piston in a transition region and a high or low pressure source; and means for generating a control error signal to the valve means so as to adjust the size of the variable orifice based upon the control signal.

  • Patent number: 6413055
Abstract: A swashplate assist mechanism for dynamically varying swashplate moments in a multiple piston hydraulic unit includes a valve means disposed in the swashplate and defining a variable orifice for metering fluid from at least one of the pistons; and means for generating a control error signal to the valve means so as to adjust the size of the variable orifice based upon the control error signal. When fluid is metered from a leading piston to a trailing piston near one or more of the pressure transition zones, or when fluid is metered from a trailing piston to a leading piston near the opposite transition zones, the swashplate moments can be reduced.
