    Abstract: An improved and safer roller skate having a braking assembly operable against the wheels, engaged when a user's toes are curled in the skate boot, moving a toe actuator attached to an external slide bar assembly, that slides toward the heel with attached brake pads which in turn engage with the wheels. A resilient compressible member normally holds the brake pads away from the wheels in a nonbraking position.
