  • Patent number: 9848515
Abstract: Various computing devices, thermal solutions and enclosures are disclosed. In one aspect, a computing device enclosure is provided that includes a first compartment that has a first upper side and is adapted to house the computing device and a liquid cooling device. The computing device has at least one heat generating component operable to transfer heat to the liquid cooling device. A second compartment has a lower side that includes an air inlet and a second upper side that has an air outlet. The second compartment is adapted to house a head exchanger to remove hear transferred to the liquid cooling device. A hub connects the first second compartment to the first compartment in spaced apart relation so as to leave a gap between the first upper side and the lower side.

  • Patent number: 7816622
Abstract: A laser shock peening system including a workpiece is provided. The laser shock peening system includes a workholding fixture configured to hold the workpiece. The laser shock peening system also includes a laser source configured to emit multiple laser beam pulses on the workpiece. The laser shock peening system further includes an absorptive layer disposed on the workpiece, the absorptive layer configured to absorb the laser beam pulses from the laser source into the workpiece. The laser shock peening system also includes a transparent constraining layer disposed between the laser source and the absorptive layer. The transparent constraining layer is also configured to provide a pressure medium configured to direct multiple reflected laser generated shock waves from the workpiece back into the workpiece. The laser shock peening system also includes a transducer disposed on the workholding fixture and configured to detect multiple acoustic signals emitted from the workpiece.

  • Publication number: 20050213298
Abstract: The present invention provides a docking station (501) for a tablet computer (339) with or without an extended battery (301). This docking station (501) comprises a docking assembly for positioning with three degrees of freedom and having a data connector for mechanically supporting and interfacing with the tablet computer (339). A support member (505) couples the cradle (507) assembly to an expansion base (503). The base (503) includes a number of ports (54, 56, 60, 62) for interfacing with a variety of peripheral devices or power supplies. These varieties of ports mount to a printed circuit board contained within the expansion base (503). A flexible printed circuit (FPC) (64) combines the signal pathways for the variety of ports, allowing the signal pathways to travel from the printed circuit board (64) and to the data connector (519).
