  • Publication number: 20070253773
Abstract: A paving mat for use in a paved surface includes a fibrous mat in the form of a paving mat. The fibrous mat includes a fibrous matrix containing a mixture of polymer fibers, first mineral fibers having a first median length, and second mineral fibers having a second median length that is different from the first median length. In another embodiment, the paving mat includes a fibrous mat including a fibrous matrix which is bonded together by a binder. In one embodiment, the binder is a mixture of different binders. The fibrous matrix includes a mixture of mineral fibers in an amount within a range of from 61 wt % to 85 wt % and polymer fibers in an amount within a range of from 15 wt % to 39 wt %. The polymer fibers have a melting point greater than 320° F. (160° C.). The mat has a stiffness in the machine direction within a range of from 65 g-cm to 110 g-cm.

  • Publication number: 20060219280
Abstract: In accordance with one embodiment, a foot assembly for use with a walker may include an attachment assembly for engaging a leg tube of the walker. A coupling device, such as a screw, may be used to couple the attachment assembly with a slider foot. The coupling device permits rotational and angular movement between the attachment assembly and the slider foot. In some embodiments, the walker may include three or four legs which are connected by a structure which maintains the legs in a fixed spatial relationship. A separate foot assembly may be affixed to one or more of the legs of the walker.

  • Publication number: 20050244224
Abstract: An improved crash attenuator that uses a cable and shock arresting cylinder arrangement to control the rate at which a vehicle impacting the crash attenuator is decelerated to a safe stop is disclosed. The crash attenuator is comprised of a front section and a plurality of mobile sections with overlapping angular corrugated side panels. When the crash attenuator is impacted by a vehicle, the front section and mobile sections telescope down in response, and thus, are effectively longitudinally collapsed. For this purpose, the sections are slidably mounted on at least one guiderail that is attached to the ground. Positioned preferably between two guiderails is the cable and cylinder arrangement that exerts a force on the front section to resist the backward movement of the front section when struck by an impacting vehicle using a varying restraining force to control the rate at which an impacting vehicle is decelerated to safely stop the vehicle. The side panels can also be used in a guardrail configuration.

  • Patent number: 6907984
Abstract: A motor mounting configuration for a roll out table reduces bearing wear and allows the motor of the roll out table to be quickly removed and reinstalled. A method for retrofitting a roll out table with a motor mount configuration that allows the motor to be quickly removed and reinstalled includes the use of a hold down element. In addition, the retrofit roll out table includes a bearing configuration designed to better withstand the harsh operating environment of the roll out table. Further, the improved roll out table includes a coupling between the motor and the roller shaft that allows for adjustability.

  • Publication number: 20040187657
Abstract: An apparatus for reconditioning the surface of a workpiece. The frame of the apparatus includes a first portion that is frictionally engaged to the outside diameter of the workpiece and a second portion that rotates relative to the first portion. A cutting tool is mounted to the rotating portion of the frame, and in addition to providing for the alignment of the frame with the workpiece, the present invention provides for the squaring up of the frame with the surface of the workpiece that is to be reconditioned so that the cutting tool will provide a flat, finished surface that is perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the workpiece. Also provided is a mount for the cutting tool that facilitates fast replacement of the cutting tool while still allowing precise positioning of the cutting tool and minimizing any relative movement between the cutting tool and the mount.

  • Patent number: 5836871
Abstract: An apparatus deployed through a laparoscopic incision in a body wall to apply an external lifting force over a large area of the body wall. The apparatus comprises a body wall engaging element and an elongate lifting member. The body wall engaging element is capable of passing in a packaged state through the laparoscopic incision, is inflatable to an inflated state, and includes, in the inflated state, a plane lifting surface. The elongate lifting member includes a distal portion connected to the plane lifting surface, and capable of passing through the laparoscopic incision. A proximal portion receives the external lifting force in a direction that moves the body wall engaging element into contact with the body wall. A method for lifting a body wall by applying an external lifting force to a large area of the body wall through a laparoscopic incision. The lifting device is provided that includes an body wall engaging element capable of passing through the laparoscopic incision in a packaged state.
