    Abstract: Methods and mobile platforms are disclosed for using vehicles to gather meteorological data. A method identifies a location that is relevant to a particular meteorological model based on modeling parameters of the particular meteorological model. Meteorological data is collected aboard a vehicle. The meteorological data is indicative of a meteorological condition in an area within sensor range of the vehicle. At least a portion of the meteorological data is transmitted to a modeling station remote from the vehicle in response to determining that the vehicle is proximate the location.
