Publication number: 20230211423Abstract: A rail drill drive train can include a common drive end between a single drive motor and a common gear. A speed train end can extend from the common gear to rotate the drill spindle. A feed train end can independently extend from the common gear to advance and retract the drill spindle. The speed train end can include a sprag gear so that, without unmeshing any gears, the drill spindle is not unnecessarily rotated in the reverse direction when the drive motor is reversed to retract the drill spindle. A rail drill control circuit and related sensors can enable automatic operation throughout the complete drilling cycle without any manual input from the user other than starting the cycle. Such a fully automatic drilling cycle can minimize overall cycle time to preserve battery life and can free the user to perform other tasks between drill moving and clamping operations.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 28, 2023Publication date: July 6, 2023Applicant: Stanley Black & Decker, Inc.Inventors: Jeffery WEATHERILL, Gabe West

Publication number: 20220282431Abstract: A control circuit can be operably coupled to the drive motor, a manually actuatable trigger switch. A pull rod position sensor can be coupled to the control circuit. The pull rod position sensor can be operable to provide at least one of an extended position signal to the control circuit in response to the non-rotating pull rod and the spike puller jaws being in the extended position, and a retracted position signal to the control circuit in response to the non-rotating pull rod and the spike puller jaws being in the retracted position. A pair of operating handles can each have an operating manual gripping portion for ergonomically operating the spike puller in an upright operating orientation. A pair of carrying handles can each include a carrying manual gripping portion oriented for ergonomically carrying the spike puller in a side-laying carrying orientation that borders an opening through the plastic housing.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 4, 2021Publication date: September 8, 2022Applicant: Stanley Black & Decker, Inc.Inventors: Jeffery WEATHERILL, Balakumaran GOPALARETHINAM, Brice HELM

Publication number: 20170284034Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a railroad track tool apparatus. The apparatus comprises a tool configured to perform an operation to the rail of the railroad track, a clamp assembly, and a coupling. The clamp assembly is moveable between a clamped position and an unclamped position to removably couple the tool with the rail. The clamp assembly is moveable along the rail. The coupling is configured to couple the tool to the clamp assembly. The coupling comprises a pivot, a linkage assembly comprising an arm coupled to the pivot, and a head coupled to the linkage assembly. The coupling is configured such that the tool is moveable between an inner side and an outer side of the rail, rotatable toward and away from the inner side or the outer side of the rail, and rotatable toward and away from an underside of the rail.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 15, 2017Publication date: October 5, 2017Inventors: Jeffery WEATHERILL, Gabriel WEST
