Abstract: A method of providing caller identification information to a voice over Internet protocol (VoIP) telephone device is disclosed and includes receiving an incoming telephone call. The method also includes determining a destination VoIP telephone device associated with the incoming call. Further, the method includes populating a caller identification portal with a plurality of identification characteristics from a caller profile and presenting the caller identification portal to a display of the destination VoIP telephone device. The caller identification portal can include a first mode in which a partial caller identification portal is presented and a second mode in which a full caller identification portal is presented.

Abstract: A voice over Internet protocol (VoIP) telephone server is disclosed and includes a computer readable medium that is accessible to a processor. A centralized address book is embedded within the computer readable medium. Further, a computer program is embedded within the computer readable medium and the computer program utilizes the centralized address book to selectively restrict incoming telephone calls and outgoing telephone calls. The centralized address book can include a plurality of address books and each of the plurality of address books is associated with a corresponding VoIP telephone coupled to the VoIP telephone server. The computer program can include instructions to determine whether an address book only calling lock is on for the VoIP telephone. Moreover, the computer program can include instructions to determine whether an originating telephone number associated with an incoming telephone is stored within the centralized address book.

Abstract: A method of managing incoming calls is disclosed and includes receiving a telephone call. Further, the method includes offering a caller a bypass option to bypass an automated help application and placing the telephone call in a queue for a next available customer service agent. The method can also include prompting the caller for payment when the caller selects the bypass option. Further, the method can include indicating a current wait time when the bypass option is declined. Moreover, the method can include offering the caller an instant service option to directly connect the caller to a customer service agent. The method can also include prompting the caller for payment when the caller selects the instant service option and directly connecting the telephone call to a customer service agent.

Abstract: In one embodiment according to the invention, there is disclosed a method for implementing call controls in a telephony network. The method comprises processing a call log of actual calls for an individual end user of the telephony network to identify applicability, for each call of the call log, of each rule of a set of call control rules; and providing a display of a call disposition that would occur for at least one call in the call log, assuming implementation of the set of call control rules. Another embodiment according to the invention comprises providing a call log of calls for an individual end user of the telephony network; and providing a display of a call control rule applied to a call of the call log. The display of the call control rule comprises an identification of one or more criteria that triggered application of the call control rule, and a disposition of the call as a result of the call control rule.

In one embodiment, a remote control can be used with an apparatus, such as a set-top box. When the user places an object near a control of the remote control, a control or function associated with the control may be announced to the user before activating the control. Abstract: The present disclosure is generally directed to a video stream processing system and to a method of displaying a video stream. In a particular embodiment, the method includes receiving a video stream to be displayed on a display device. During a first time period, a low resolution version of the video stream is displayed while a full resolution version of the video stream is being recovered. The method further includes synchronizing the low resolution version of the video stream with the full resolution version of the video stream, and, during a second time period after the first time period, switching between display of the low resolution version of the video stream to display of the full resolution version of the video stream.

Abstract: The present invention provides a method and apparatus for a shared line Find-Me-Follow-Me (FMFM) voicemail application. Each person sharing a telephone number is provided a sub mailbox with FMFM contact numbers individually configured for each user sub mailbox. The invention further provides a method and apparatus for dynamic out dial determination that removes numbers from the FMFM contact number list that match numbers in the inbound call path to avoid looping. The present invention further provides a method and apparatus for FMFM call path duplication of the inbound call path onto the out dial call information to provide caller identification for the original calling party after the call is forwarded or processed using FMFM.

Abstract: A method and system are disclosed for detecting a call made to the system, answering the call, and optionally, plays an announcement. The caller responds by, pressing a DTMF key or keys, sending TTY tones, speaking a response or doing nothing. A user who presses a TTY key or keys, or a TTY device that sends an auto-ID string generates TTY tones and the system detects TTY tones of at least about 30 milliseconds and greater. The system connects the call to another person, platform or portion of the service logic specifically designed for TTY calls.

Abstract: Devices, methods and systems for enhanced ringing features on communications terminals. Flexible user-established rules, customized in a subscriber profile database, enable the ring-tone to vary based on caller-id, caller priority, call-urgency (as determined by caller), call context and so forth. Call set-up logic applies the profile rules prior to completing the call set-up. “Buzz-tones” extend the basic distinctive ringing feature to the “silent” mode that is currently available on cell-phones, which is of particular utility to subscribers with hearing disabilities. Other kinds of alerts (audio/motion/visual) like flashing colors on a display, moving pictures and the like, and any combination of notification modes, are contemplated by alternative embodiments.

Abstract: Before completing a call initiated at a calling telephony device for a called telephony device; caller identification information for the calling telephony device is obtained for the call. If standard caller identification information is not available, the caller is prompted to provide spoken caller identification information. The caller identification information is communicated to the called telephony device via a connectionless protocol such as VoIP where a continuing connection does not exist between communicating end points. The called party is given call disposition options. The process which controls this operation may be located anywhere in the network, including at switching equipment and at the called telephony device.

In another example, the extrudate may be partially or totally immersed in a liquid cryogenic fluid. Increases in production line throughput may result by rapidly cooling the molded material. In addition, the more efficient cooling may be achieved with a lesser amount of the cooling fluid, and the velocity and temperature of the cooling fluid may be reduced.

The system provides multiples options for the payment card holder to decline authorization of the attempted transaction. The multiple options comprise a first option for the payment card holder to decline authorization of an undesirable but non-fraudulent transaction, and a second option for the payment card holder to decline authorization of a fraudulent transaction.

Abstract: Outgoing call log data associated with a call from a subscriber's terminal is provided by a system including a switch, which receives the call from the subscriber's terminal and launches a query in response to the call, and a service controller, which receives the query and forwards call data to an interface server in response to the query. The switch continues to process the telephone call after querying the service controller. The interface server obtains additional information from a directory database based on at least the received call data. An outgoing call log database receives and stores the call data and the additional information from the interface server as the outgoing call log data. A web server retrieves the outgoing call log data from the outgoing call log database, in response to a query from a web client, and displays the outgoing call log data at the web client.

Abstract: A memory stores built-in images per bill denomination for a plurality of bill denominations. The built-in images may include a corresponding image for each of four corners for each of two sides of the bill denomination. A camera captures an image of a bill. A pattern recognizer matches the image of the bill to one of the built-in images in the memory. An output device reports the denomination of the bill based on the match from the pattern recognizer.

Abstract: A system and method are disclosed for facilitating a custom ring in connection with a call. A system that incorporates teachings of the present disclosure may include, for example, an electronic device operable to support telephonic communication. The electronic device may have a housing component at least partially defining an enclosure. A memory may be located within the enclosure and may be storing ring tone information representing a custom ring tone. The device may also have a user interface capable of receiving user inputs that could indicate, for example, a desire to place a call to a called party. In some embodiments, the device may have an output engine capable of initiating communication of the ring tone information to the called party such that a telephonic device of the called party outputs the select ring tone as an indication of the call.

Abstract: A system and method are provided for reviewing and updating a subscriber's telecommunications services using a graphical user interface via multiple data networks. A data message is received at an intelligent peripheral from the graphical user interface via at least one of the data networks. The data message indicates a subscriber's desired update to a selected service. The data message is converted into a protocol compatible with a service control point. The converted data message is identical to a data message that the intelligent peripheral would create if the subscriber had entered the desired update via an interactive voice response system. The converted data message is transmitted to the service control point, which updates the service in accordance with the subscriber's update. Thus, the service is updated substantially contemporaneously with the request. Moreover, the subscriber retains the ability to update and review service data via the interactive voice response.
