  • Publication number: 20100109469
Abstract: A slot wedge for a generator stator includes a wedge body having opposite side edges adapted to engage complimentary stator core slots. At least the opposite side edges are covered with an aramid paper or woven aramid fabric material.
    Type: Application
    Filed: October 30, 2008
    Publication date: May 6, 2010
    Applicant: General Electric Company
Inventors: Elena Rozier, Waheed Tony Mall, Jeffrey D. Sheaffer
  • Publication number: 20090045692
Abstract: A slot wedge for a generator stator includes a wedge body having top and bottom surfaces and a pair of oppositely inclined side surfaces, wherein at least the oppositely inclined surfaces are covered with a woven aramid fabric. A related method includes the steps of: (a) providing a wedge shaped body having top and bottom surfaces connected by oppositely inclined side surfaces; and (b) covering at least the oppositely inclined side surfaces with a woven aramid fabric.

  • Patent number: 4607183
Abstract: A dovetail wedge for retaining conductor bars in stator slots of a large dynamoelectric machine includes an embedding surface layer on surfaces thereof which contact the lamination surfaces in dovetail slots of the stator. The embedding surface layer permits the embossing thereof by irregularities of the surface of the laminations. A range of thicknesses for the embedding layer provides sufficient protection against abrasion and a sufficient lubricity during wedge installation without being so thick that long-term dimensional instability may permit loosening of the conductor bars. The embedding layer is preferably a natural fiber and most preferably a woven or non-woven cotton fiber.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 14, 1984
Date of Patent: August 19, 1986
    Assignee: General Electric Company
