  • Patent number: 9536210
Abstract: To determine origin-destination (OD) data for a transportation system, a processor may receiving passenger statistics collected from a set of data collection devices deployed throughout the transportation system. The processor developing a model representing passenger usage of a portion of the transportation system. The model comprises nodes that each represent a geographical area of the transportation network, and links that represent transportation routes that connect two nodes. The system determines link utilization rates for each of the links by applying the passenger statistics to the model, and it generates an observation report comprising an origin-destination matrix for at least the portion of the transportation system so that the origin-destination matrix comprises the determined link utilization rates.

  • Patent number: 9471938
Abstract: A method for fulfillment of a kit includes a) generating a 3D virtual simulation of a kit using a computer animation tool in a kit fulfillment environment after receiving a kit request from a customer, the 3D virtual simulation formed using 3D virtual models of objects in the kit and reflecting a spatial layout of components packed in a receptacle, the 3D virtual simulation including an interactive animation that dynamically controls a visual rendering of the 3D virtual simulation in response to a user at a user device selectively manipulating the kit or an object; b) providing the customer with remote access to the 3D virtual simulation to use a remote user device to control the visual rendering for a review of the kit; and c) releasing the kit for production and fulfillment of the request after receiving an approval from the customer in conjunction with the review.

  • Patent number: 8984402
Abstract: Methods and a system for an electronic device to allow for indicating a size or scale of a rendering in a three dimensional view. A virtual scene is displayed on a display with a work product that is rendered, such as a document or packaging request having a job ticket. The rendering is provided with a common object that is a three dimensional virtual object that relates size to the document or packaging for approval in the proofing process. A quick visual cue is therefore provided to visually convey a realistic scale in proportion to the product rendered three dimensionally.

  • Patent number: 8681179
Abstract: A method and system for coordinating placement of an augmented reality/virtual world object(s) into a scene relative to position and orientation. The object(s) can be connected to an anchor point having an absolute location relative to the marker via a connector (e.g., spring-like connector) in such a way that the behavior of the object responds to a physical force and a collision which exists in the augmented reality scene. The connection between the virtual object and location of the marker permits the object to exactly track the marker when there are no real world collisions between the markers. The virtual objects can be displaced so the objects do not pass through one another when the real world markers come into a close spatial proximity and the corresponding virtual objects begin to collide.

  • Publication number: 20120066648
Abstract: Methods and a system for manipulating objects in a 3D virtual scene are disclosed. Two different mechanisms are used for a user interface, including a first hand and a second hand of a user. The first hand manipulates translational manipulation of the virtual object, such as displacement of the object in three orthogonal planes. The second hand manipulates rotational manipulation of the object. While the interface uses and recognizes different hands for manipulation of the object, it also uses three digits or fingers of different hands to control height, speed, translational and rotational movements.
