Abstract: The universal Internet based telephony system is implemented as a process that is accessible via an Internet WEB page and executes on the WEB server that hosts the WEB page and/or a back-end Internet telephony server which is accessed and controlled by the WEB server. The customer accesses the universal Internet based telephony system via any existing Java Enabled Internet Browser software resident on the customer's personal computer, either as an adjunct process thereon, or as a dedicated Internet telephony process. When a customer accesses the Internet WEB page and clicks on the universal Internet based telephony system icon, the WEB server on which the WEB page resides executes the resident universal Internet based telephony system hyperlink script and transfers a newly opened browser session to the universal Internet based telephony system WEB site.

Abstract: A method and computer program product to streamline electronic commerce transactions using an e-mail launched Web transaction process is provided. An e-mail is sent to a prospective customer which includes an offer for sale, fields in which shipping and billing information may be entered, and a button which may be activated to accept the offer. Upon activation of the button, a secure communications channel is established between the customer's Web browser and a transaction server. The acceptance is sent via the secure channel and a confirmation of the offer is then returned to the customer. The saving of abandoned shopping carts using such an e-mail launched Web transaction process is also provided. This allows abandoned shopping carts to be converted into actual revenue by eliminating the need to re-visit a merchant's Web site, replace goods or services in a shopping cart and having to go through the checkout process.

Abstract: In a method and apparatus for conducting electronic commerce, an email is sent to a prospective customer. The email includes an offer for sale, a field in which customer information may be entered by the customer, and a button which may be activated by the customer to accept the offer. Upon activation of the button, a secure communications channel is established between the customer's computer and a transaction server. The secure channel is preferably established by spawning a browser window and using support for secure channels built into the browser. The acceptance of the offer is sent via the secure channel and a confirmation of the offer is then sent to the customer, preferably to the browser window. The order may be forwarded to a merchant for processing.
