The workspaces include sharable portable specifications for implementing event monitoring by a plurality of users or computer systems. Workspaces may be bindable computing resources to establish controls between the computing resources and the workspaces.

Abstract: A system and method for monitoring information events is configurable by user definable rule specifications. The rule specifications can be included in portable sharable rulebooks. The rulebooks are transportable and may be shared between users, workspaces and computer systems. Each rulebook may be implemented on a single computer or aspects of a rulebook may be distributed among a plurality of computers or computer resources.
