  • Publication number: 20070240668
Abstract: An inlet valve is partially coated with a protective coating to resist corrosion and gas impingement when used in an internal combustion engine. The inlet valve has a hard cladding that is shaped to function as a valve seat. The hard cladding forms an interface with the valve head body, which is typically made of a softer metallic material than the hard cladding. The protective coating is bonded to the inlet valve and covers the cladding-body interface. The protective coating is resistant to corrosion, wear from gas impingement, and can withstand the high temperatures reached in internal combustion engines. Internal engines incorporating the valves are more durable and less susceptible to catastrophic valve failure. A method for making the inlet valves generally includes masking a portion of the valve stem and the valve seat, applying a protective coating to cladding-body interface, and curing the protective coating or otherwise bonding the protective coating to the inlet valve.

  • Publication number: 20070227000
Abstract: A system for applying a coating to an engine valve and curing the coating using infrared radiation includes a spraying device, an infrared oven, and a movable track. A plurality of engine valves is transported through the system on the movable track. The spraying device applies a protective coating composition on a portion of the engine valves. The coating composition has a high emissivity value that allows the coating to be rapidly and efficiently cured as the coated engine valves travel through the infrared oven.

  • Publication number: 20060080589
Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for interfacing between a data source and a tightly-coupled memory. In the method and apparatus, a write data word and a write address are received from the data source and latched in a first clock cycle within a write buffer along a write data path, between the data source and the memory. The write data word is encoded according to an error detection code along the write data path. The write address and the write data word are applied to the memory from the write buffer. The write data word is accessible to the data source from the write data path or the memory beginning with a second clock cycle, which is a next subsequent clock cycle to the first clock cycle.

  • Patent number: 7000092
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a system and method for heterogeneous multiprocessor reference design. In an aspect of the present invention, a method of designing a multiprocessor integrated circuit may include receiving a specification for an integrated circuit having multiprocessors, the specification having a desired functionality. Functional components are chosen which provide the desired functionality of the received specification. The functional components are implemented in a modular multiprocessor reference design as an example system for the multiprocessor integrated circuit. The implemented functional components of the modular multiprocessor reference design may be suitable for testing software for operation by the multiprocessor integrated circuit. Moreover, the modular multiprocessor reference design enables testing of interaction of functional components for providing the desired functionality of the received specification.
