  • Publication number: 20210372729
Abstract: An apparatus is used to measure movement performance of a user undergoing firearm combat training. A light emitter emits a light signal along a beam path traversing over a starting location such that the light signal is interrupted by a user at the starting location. A target device initiates a visual representation of a threat directed towards a user at the starting location. A light detector detects a non-interference condition of the light emitter in which the light signal along the beam path is not interrupted at the starting location. A controller monitors the light detector and determines when the user has moved away from the starting location into the non-interference condition of the light emitter. The controller may also measure an elapsed time between activation of the target device and determination of the non-interference condition of the light emitter.

  • Patent number: 10895442
Abstract: A simulated improvised explosive device has a cylindrical outer casing and a cylindrical inner casing received within the outer casing to define an annular first passage between the inner and outer casings and a second passage within the inner casing. A charge holder supports a charge at a first end of the second passage. The second ends of the inner and outer passages communicate with one another opposite from the charge holder. Exhaust ports are located at the first end of the first passage so that the expelled gases from detonating the charge are directed substantially along a full length of both passages. A flow restriction is provided within the first passage to assist in containing sparks within the outer casing rather than be expelled from the exhaust ports.

  • Publication number: 20200005675
Abstract: A training device includes a band of material for support about a limb of a user training to apply a tourniquet. Pressure sensing elements are supported on the band at spaced positions about the limb. The user applies the tourniquet about the limb with the pressure sensing elements between the limb and the tourniquet so as to generate a pressure signal representative of a pressure level applied by the tourniquet to the limb of the user. A controller coupled to the pressure sensing elements changes the condition of a sensory feedback device carried on the user when receiving a pressure signal exceeding a lower pressure limit. The sensory feedback device may be a shocking device which is initially activated to intermittently shock the user until the user applies the tourniquet with sufficient pressure to overcome the lower pressure limit to inactivate the shocking of the user.

  • Patent number: 9865174
Abstract: An adapter assembly permits sensory feedback such as a pain penalty to be incorporated into a combat training system of the type which includes simulated weapons which output a laser hit signal representative of a projectile and user monitoring devices worn by participants having laser sensors to provide an indication when a participant is hit by a simulated projectile in a combat training exercise. The adapter assembly works with an electrical impulse device also worn by the participants to deliver an electrical shock to the participant in response to receiving an activation signal. More particularly, the adapter assembly has input sensor for sensing when a user monitoring device indicates a hit to the user, and a signal output for generating an activation signal which can be received by the electrical impulse device to shock the participant when hit.

  • Patent number: 9728105
Abstract: A vascular neck restraint training device is used for raining a first person to execute a vascular neck restraint on a second person. The training device includes a supporting structure, such as a collar for being supported about the neck of the second person, upon which a tracheal pressure sensor, and two arterial pressure sensors are supported for alignment with the trachea and the carotid arteries of the second person respectively. The sensors detect if an applied pressure during a vascular neck restrain exceeds a prescribed pressure threshold for that sensor and provides corresponding indication to the first person applying the pressure. The training device indicates if too much pressure is applied to the trachea corresponding to a respiratory neck restraint, and if sufficient pressure is applied to each of the carotid arteries for executing a successful vascular neck restraint.

  • Patent number: 9581418
Abstract: An edge weapon training device includes a handle body for gripping in a hand of a user and first and second contacts spaced apart at a first end of the handle body for delivering an electrical shock to a person being trained for self-defense against edge weapons when the handle body is thrust against the trainee in a simulated stabbing motion. In some instances a knife body protrudes beyond the contacts to visually represent a knife, but the knife body is supported to either retract into the handle body or be compressed against the handle body when the handle is thrust against a user in a simulated stabbing motion. Alternatively, the training device may take the form of a resilient adapter body which supports the contacts thereon and which can be supported over an existing stun gun with the contacts in connection to the electrical posts of the stun gun.
