  • Publication number: 20090023643
Abstract: This invention relates to methods of treating acute myocardial infarction by administering calcitonin gene related peptide (CGRP). This invention also relates to preventing an acute myocardial infarction by administering calcitonin gene related peptide (CGRP). This invention further relates to compositions of CGRP for use in such methods. This invention also relates to the use of calcitonin gene related peptide in the manufacture of medicament for treating or preventing an acute myocardial infarction in a subject or for treating a subject suspected of having an acute myocardial infarction.

  • Patent number: 6809079
Abstract: The present invention provides a method and composition for the treatment of Female Sexual Arousal Disorder. Calcitonin gene-related peptide, a naturally occurring substance in the human body, is chemically conjugated to a hydrophobic agent thereby increasing its permeability across the skin membrane. When locally applied to female genitalia localized blood flow is promoted thus resulting in increased sexual arousal.

Date of Patent: October 26, 2004
    Assignee: VasoGenix Pharmaceuticals, Inc.

  • Patent number: 5962006
Abstract: The invention is directed to a polymer formulation in which a pharmaceutically acceptable, biocompatible, biodegradable and/or bioerodible, water-coagulable thermoplastic polymer or copolymer which is substantially insoluble in an aqueous medium is dissolved in .epsilon.-caprolactone, a pharmaceutically-acceptable, moderately water-soluble organic solvent. When brought in contact with an aqueous environment, such as body or tissue fluids, the .epsilon.-caprolactone slowly dissipates into the aqueous fluid. As the .epsilon.-caprolactone dissipates, the water-insoluble thermoplastic polymer coagulates to form a flexible matrix. Preferably, the thermoplastic polymer is a copolymer of caprolactone or methylene carbonate and lactide or glycolide monomers. More preferably, the thermoplastic polymer is poly(DL-lactide-co-caprolactone). The polymer formulation may also contain a biologically active agent and/or a rate modifying agents to control the rate of release of the biologically active agent.

  • Patent number: 5717030
Abstract: A medical device which is a surgically implantable device coated with an adjunctive polymer system. The adjunctive polymer system forms a solid matrix when introduced into a human or animal body. The adjunctive polymer system can contain a drug or a medicament which is released over time from the solid matrix. The adjunctive polymer system contacts body tissue into which the surgically implantable device is implanted.
