  • Patent number: 5185143
Abstract: What is described herein is solution polymerization in acetone solvent of a monomer mixture of maleic anhydride, vinyl acetate and isobornyl acrylate or methacrylate.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 13, 1992
Date of Patent: February 9, 1993
    Assignee: ISP Investments Inc.
    Inventor: Jeffrey M. Cohen
  • Patent number: 5177113
Abstract: A free-standing, porous foam product comprising an integral network of PVP molecules hydrogen-bonded to H.sub.2 O.sub.2 molecules, optionally including a water-soluble gelling agent; e.g. hydroxyethyl cellulose; in an amount up to 60% by weight of the product, its PVP content being about 25-90% by weight of the product, and the H.sub.2 O.sub.2 content being about 5-24% by weight. In the absence of a gelling agent, the product has a bulk density of about 0.3 to about 0.5 g/cc and a porosity of about 60-70%. When a gelling agent is present in the product, its bulk density and porosity of the product is substantially reduced and, accordingly, it has a more foam-like structure and appearance.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 4, 1992
Date of Patent: January 5, 1993
    Assignee: ISP Investments Inc.
Inventors: Russell B. Biss, Jeffrey M. Cohen, John J. Merianos, Paul D. Taylor
  • Patent number: 4626212
Abstract: A dental instrument is provided for the mechanical removal of plaque and/or other material from or adjacent to a patient's teeth, both above and below the gum line, which instrument includes a hollow plastic handle with an angularly related shank extending therefrom, which carried an integral single or double sided blade for removal of material, and which instrument is intended for single patient use and to be discarded thereafter.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 31, 1985
Date of Patent: December 2, 1986
Inventors: Harris Mann, Jeffrey M. Cohen
  • Patent number: 4132219
Abstract: A novel type of solar collector is disclosed comprising an absorber within a downwardly directed cavity, a reflector for reflecting solar radiation up into the cavity and onto the absorber, and a light transmitting sheet which allows solar rays to pass therethrough. The solar collector has the property that convective loss is suppressed.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 22, 1977
Date of Patent: January 2, 1979
Inventors: Jeffrey M. Cohen, Marion D. Cohen
  • Patent number: 4022188
Abstract: A novel type of solar collector apparatus is disclosed which comprises a generally planar, horizontally extending absorber having a radiation-accepting aperture in the lower surface thereof, and a duct extending therethrough for receiving a heat transfer fluid. A non-steered reflector is disposed directly beneath the absorber, the reflector exhibiting a cross-sectional configuration of a parabolic cylindrical nature.
    Type: Grant
