Abstract: A system for providing audio-based information pertaining to a situation communicated to a first responder en route to the situation. The information may include real-time and current data of the on-going situation (e.g., a building fire). The information may be relayed to the first responder by a dispatch center, or other intermediary, or come directly from monitoring instrumentation at a location of the situation. Also, background and/or preplanned information about the location may be provided to the first responder via a handset or other device. The responder may request certain information via the handset or device in a vehicle en route with voice requests or button activation. Visual displays of information on the instrumentation may be converted to audio- or speech-based displays for the responder.

Abstract: A method includes receiving energy-related information associated with multiple elements in a hierarchically-arranged domain. The method also includes determining a value of an energy-related metric for each of the elements using the energy-related information. The method further includes generating a graphical user interface using the metric values and presenting the graphical user interface to a user. The graphical user interface includes a treemap having multiple sections, each associated with one of the elements. The graphical user interface also includes a graph displaying energy-related information associated with a selected element. A size of each section in the treemap could be based on a size, importance, energy usage, and/or carbon emission of the associated element. A color and a color intensity of each section in the treemap could be based on the metric value of the associated element and/or a comparison of the absolute energy usage to a baseline.

Abstract: A method and system of generating 3D models from a set of 2D floor plans using an algorithm to classify pixels from each floor plan as outside or inside. Inside pixels are drawn as horizontal rectangles and walls are drawn as vertical rectangles. When a floor is compared to the one below and the pixel below is interior and the pixel above is exterior, it is marked as a roof pixel.

Abstract: A display screen for displaying multiple sets of information is provided. The display screen includes at least one region of a select color designated to convey a first set of information and a plurality of adjustable areas designated to convey a second set of information. The plurality of adjustable areas overlay at least a portion of the at least one region of select color of the first set of information. Moreover, each adjustable area is defined by an outline and a color encased in the outline.

Abstract: A method and system for generating a representation of a terrain. The method of generating a representation of a terrain comprises the steps of selecting a set of colors, the colors comprise at least a plurality of colors, determining a minimum terrain elevation, and determining a maximum terrain elevation. A plurality of terrain bands is computed based in part on the set of colors, the minimum terrain elevation, and the maximum terrain elevation. At least one of the limited set of colors is assigned to each of the plurality of the plurality of terrain bands. The representation of the terrain is generated one of the limited set of colors.

Abstract: A display screen for displaying multiple sets of information is provided. In one embodiment, an aviation display screen includes a main window and a plurality of miniature windows. The main window is adapted to illustrate one set of information. Each miniature window is adapted to display a set of avionic information. The avionic display is further adapted to toggle a select set of avionic information in one of the miniature windows into the main window.

Abstract: A vehicle screening system for screening vehicles and occupants for entrance to a secured facility. The system can include a processor and an interface that communicates with the processor, wherein the interface displays identification information extracted from a vehicle occupant associated with a vehicle for processing by the processor. Additionally, a plurality of controls are associated with the interface and the processor, wherein the plurality of controls permit facilitates the handling and management of the information extracted from the vehicle occupant in order to permit or deny the vehicle occupant and the vehicle entry to a secured facility through a security gate.

Abstract: A method of removing synthetic vision terrain and objects from a graphical display when unsafe to rely on the synthetic vision terrain and objects is provided. The method comprises receiving current position data from at least one sensor, determining when to fade out synthetic vision terrain and objects based on the position data received, and fading out synthetic vision terrain and objects gradually when determined.
