  • Patent number: 8567798
Abstract: A multi-wheeled base for a mobile cart includes one or more swiveling, optionally locking, caster wheels and one or more non-swiveling traction wheels to improve the maneuverability of the cart by making it easier to steer and stop. The traction wheels may be manually-engaged traction wheels, which may be operated by a cam and lever. The traction wheels may also be automatically-engaged traction wheels operated by a motor and a threaded shaft, and activated by a motion-sensitive sensor or by an on/off electrical switch or button. The traction wheels are preferably in contact with the floor when the mobile cart is moving, and raised above the surface of the floor when the cart is stationary.

  • Patent number: 7624953
Abstract: The present invention is directed to an infusion stand for supporting an articles such as an IV bag. In one embodiment, the infusion stand comprises a gas spring engaged with a moveable base assembly. The infusion stand further comprises a foot pedal assembly mounted to the base assembly that is adapted to actuate the gas spring. The infusion stand further comprises an extension arm having one end engaged with the gas spring and the other end to an IV bag support adapted to support one or more IV bags. The infusion stand may further comprise a handle assembly connected to the upper portion of the extension arm. In operation, depression of the foot pedal assembly causes activation of the gas spring which raises the IV bag support to a selected height. An operator may grasp the handle assembly to control upward or downward movement of the IV bag support to a desired height and fix the desired height by release of the foot pedal assembly.

  • Publication number: 20080252045
Abstract: Provided is a roller set assembly system of a height adjustable, single-post for use with a cart comprising a base section; an upper, adjustable-height workspace; and an intermediate section connecting the base section and the upper working section. The length of the post is adapted for manual adjustment by a user for optimal height. The intermediate section comprises an optionally removable spring member (e.g., a gas spring) within the post to assist in providing upward force necessary to lengthen the post; and a roller set assembly construction that inhibits twisting of the post and as creates a rolling motion between movable members thereby counteracting friction and torque, and facilitating height adjustment.
