    Abstract: A humidifier pad with multiple layers of slit and expanded paper laminated together. At least one, and in some preferred embodiments, up to half of the paper layers comprise substantially nonwicking paper and the remaining layers comprise highly absorbent wicking paper. Wick type humidifier pads are particularly useful in humidifiers wherein the lower portion of the pad is submerged in a reservoir of water. The upper portion of the pad, exposed to a flow of air to be humidified, is supplied with water due to the high rate of capillary rise featured by the wicking paper layers. Including non-wicking layers wetted by the wicking layers provide an output capacity comparable to conventionally constructed pads which include all wicking paper layers and an attendant saving of the cost of materials.

    Abstract: An improved diaper container to temporarily store soiled diapers prior to final disposal thereof which is characterized by an outer fluid impervious shell provided with a removably mounted liner. The liner comprises a pad of non-woven synthetic fibers impregnated with an odor adsorbing material, such as activated carbon. The outer shell is provided with a hinged lid for access to the interior of the container and the liner is slideably mounted within the outer shell in a snug fit with the inner walls of the outer shell. The activated carbon entraps noxous odors within the liner to effectively prevent the odors from escaping from the container when it is opened.

    Abstract: A filter pad for range hoods is disclosed which comprises a plurality of sheets formed of wood paper pulp fiber material. Each sheet is slit and expanded to form a plurality of adjacent multi-sided openings. The outermost sheet on the upstream side of the pad is provided with a plurality of parallel sets of three printed lines formed by oil soluble dye components. The lines flanking each central line in each set are of selected different colors. Each line adjacent to the central line in each set is spaced at a selected distance from the central line to permit the different color dye components to bleed together upon a given loading level of the pad with oil and fat aerosols to form a band having a third different color to visually indicate that the filter pad is in need of replacement.

The filter pad includes a base formed of unwoven, randomly oriented synthetic fibers impregnated with a mixture of zeolite particles and activated carbon particles effective to substantially reduce gaseous components having an offensive odor and discoloring agents in aquarium applications.
