Patent number: 11965071Abstract: The present disclosure relates to thermoplastic films and products formed therefrom that include additive components effectively compartmentalized based on diffusion characteristics of the additive components. For example, first and second additive components are localized on a thermoplastic film in a manner that as the additive components diffuse, they minimize or avoid interaction. Specifically, the thermoplastic film is folded over itself to create an air gap that causes the additive components to desorb, diffuse into the air gap, and then absorb into the film at a position across the air gap rather than diffusing substantially laterally across the thermoplastic film. By ensuring that the additive components diffuse up and down rather than laterally and by laterally offsetting the additive components, one or more implementations effectively compartmentalize the antagonistic components.Type: GrantFiled: February 17, 2021Date of Patent: April 23, 2024Assignee: THE GLAD PRODUCTS COMPANYInventors: Dean A. Ferracane, Jeffrey S. Stiglic, Anthony A. Cisek, Jessica Greer, Jing Hong

Publication number: 20240043190Abstract: One or more implementations of a multi-film thermoplastic structure include a first film having a first appearance in contact with a second film having a second appearance at one or more visually-distinct contact areas arranged into a text. Wherein the one or more visually-distinct contact areas, cause the first film to take on the second appearance of the second film. In one or more implementations the multi-film thermoplastic structure comprises a thermoplastic bag and text comprises a suffocation warning.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 11, 2023Publication date: February 8, 2024Inventors: Matthew W. Publication number: 20230243793Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a thermoplastic film that includes a layer of thermoplastic material and a color indicator applied to the thermoplastic material. The color indicator can be configured to change color in response to a trigger. For example, the color indicator can change color (e.g., change from a first color to a second color) in response to a color change trigger, such as exposure to malodor particles, absorption of moisture, a length of time, or as a result of oxidation. In one or more embodiments, the thermoplastic film further includes an odor control component configured to mask, neutralize, or otherwise control malodors. The color indicator can change its color appearance as the odor control component performs to control any present malodors, thus signaling the performance of the odor control component.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 11, 2023Publication date: August 3, 2023Inventors: Dean A. Ferracane, Jeffrey S. Stiglic, Jessica Greer, Robert T. Dorsey

Publication number: 20100266222Abstract: A thermoplastic bag for storing food items may include a first sidewall and an opposing second sidewall joined to the first sidewall to define an interior volume. The first and second sidewalls may be made from pliable, sheet-like thermoplastic web material. The sidewalls may be formed with a pattern of ribs. When a tensioning force is applied to the sidewall, the ribs may open so that the sidewall may become generally more planar. Opening the ribs may cause the sidewalls to stretch or expand thereby adding to the overall area of the bag. The thermoplastic material may have a shape memory characteristic that may cause the ribs to reform after the tensioning force is alleviated.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 13, 2010Publication date: October 21, 2010Applicant: The Glad Products CompanyInventors: John E. Patent number: 6928702Abstract: The closure device (121)includes a first fastening strip (130), a second fastening strip (131), and a slider (132) adapted to be slidably disposed on the fastening strips. The slider (132) facilitates the occlusion of the fastening strips when moved towards a first end thereof. A first detent (137) is located at the first end of the fastening strips. The slider (132) includes a housing having a first flexible portion (216) for engaging the first detent (137) when the slider (132) is moved to the first end of the fastening strips. The first flexible portion (216) and detent (137) prevent removal of the slider (132) from the first end of the fastening strips (130, 131) in the longitudinal X axis (102).Type: GrantFiled: June 10, 1999Date of Patent: August 16, 2005Assignee: The Glad Products CompanyInventors: Alan F. Patent number: 6611998Abstract: The closure device (121) includes interlocking fastening strips (130, 131) and a slider (132) slidably disposed on the fastening strips for facilitating the occlusion and deocclusion of the fastening strips when moved towards first and second ends thereof. Flexible shoulders (230, 232) and legs (234, 236) are disposed on the slider (132) for facilitating the attachment of the slider onto the fastening strips (130, 131) in the vertical Z axis (106). The flexible shoulders (230, 232) and legs (234, 236) further provide resistance against the removal of the slider (132) from the fastening strips (130, 131) in the vertical Z axis (106) thereafter.Type: GrantFiled: November 19, 2001Date of Patent: September 2, 2003Assignee: the glad products companyInventor: Jeffrey S.
