Patent number: 11974793Abstract: A method facilitates the treatment of the spine of a patient by providing simultaneous access through at least a first opening and a second opening formed in the patient. For example, the method can include the acts of positioning the patient on a surgical table, providing the first opening into a posterior portion of the patient, providing the second opening into a lateral portion of the patient, inserting a first device through the first opening into the patient to contact the spine in a first direction that is transverse to the coronal plane of the patient, and inserting a second device through the second opening into the patient to contact the spine in a second direction that is transverse to the sagittal plane of the patient, where the first and second openings are accessible simultaneously, and, when the first and second devises are inserted into the patient, the position of the patient is stationary with respect to a portion of the table.Type: GrantFiled: November 3, 2022Date of Patent: May 7, 2024Assignee: WARSAW ORTHOPEDIC, INC.Inventors: Jeffrey W. Publication number: 20240090966Abstract: A surgical draping system includes an under-draping, an over-draping, and a connecting draping connected by the under-draping and the over-draping. The surgical draping system is used to establish and maintain a surgical corridor to a surgical site or sites on a patient supported by a surgical table. The surgical draping system can accommodate rotation of the patient on the surgical table, such that the sterile surgical corridor is maintained even during such rotation. The sterile surgical corridor extends through an aperture formed in the over-draping, through an enclosed passageway formed through the connecting draping, and through an aperture formed in the under-draping.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 28, 2023Publication date: March 21, 2024Inventors: Jeffrey W. Patent number: 11857467Abstract: A surgical table includes a sagittal adjustment device for manipulating the position of a patient. The surgical table includes a base portion including an upper surface for spacing the sagittal adjustment device from the ground. The sagittal adjustment device includes a first support portion and a second support portion. The first and second support portions are supported by and moveable over the upper surface of the base portion. The first and second support portions each include an upper surface configured to support portions of the body of the patient thereon. One of the first and second support portions is pivotally attached to the base portion, and moveable between a first position and a second position. The pivotal movement between the first and second positions of the one of the first and second portions serves in repositioning the body of patient to manipulate the spine of the patient.Type: GrantFiled: January 29, 2021Date of Patent: January 2, 2024Assignee: WARSAW ORTHOPEDIC, INC.Inventors: Jeffrey W. Publication number: 20230165613Abstract: The present disclosure provides for a bone screw formed of continuous fibers, for example. The bone screw may include a first portion having a cylindrical shape and extending in a longitudinal direction from a first end to a second end, for example. In various embodiments, the first portion may include a thermoplastic material and/or be substantially formed of a thermoplastic material. In various embodiments, the bone screw may include a second portion coupled to the first portion and surrounding the first portion, at least partly, for example. In various embodiments, the second portion may include a plurality of layers, each layer comprising a continuous fiber material, for example. In various embodiments, the continuous fibers may be oriented longitudinally, diagonally, helically, radially, etc. In various embodiments, the second portion may define an exposed thread pattern and a leading tip.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 29, 2021Publication date: June 1, 2023Applicant: Warsaw Orthopedic, Inc.Inventors: KEITH MILLER, Brian A. Patent number: 11291477Abstract: An implant system is disclosed. The system may include an implant receiver having a base and a first arm and a second arm extending from the base in a longitudinal direction towards an open end. The first arm and second arm may define a receiving cavity therebetween. The first and second arm may each include an outside thread pattern for rotatably supporting a nut movable in the longitudinal direction and an inside thread pattern for rotatably supporting a set screw movable in the longitudinal direction. A rod may be selectively positioned within the receiving cavity at an intermediate elevation between the base and the open end and the rod may be supported by the nut. The set screw may be tightened against the rod thereby locking the rod and nut at the intermediate elevation.
