  • Patent number: 7170869
Abstract: The present invention discloses a method for applying a multi-protocol label switching (MPLS) network in general packet radio service (GPRS). The MPLS network is established by multiple differentiated service (DS) domains. Each DS domain is constructed by multiple label switching routers (LSRs) and label edge routers (LERs). The LER provides at least a service GPRS supporting node (SGSN) connected to a wireless network base station, and a gate GPRS supporting node (GGSN) connected to a packet switching network. At a signalling plane, IP addresses of all SGSNs and GGSNs are utilized to establish all one-to-one pre-created label switching paths (LSPs) in the MPLS network of the GPRS backbone network. At a transmission plane, the pre-created LSP and LSP tunneling transmit packets between SGSN and GGSN.

  • Publication number: 20060149812
Abstract: The present invention provides a system and method for accelerating call setup by caching, wherein a user equipment accesses an IMS network via a radio access network and a GPRS core network. The GPRS core network has a HSS recorded with data associated with the user equipment. The IMS network comprises at least one S-CSCF and at least one I-CSCF. The I-CSCF has a cache device. At first, the user equipment sends a register signal which is forwarded to the I-CSCF, and the I-CSCF inquiries the HSS about the services that the user equipment has applied, so as to select an S-CSCF. Then, I-CSCF forwards the register signal to the selected S-CSCF, and the S-CSCF registers to the HSS as being mapped to the user equipment. Finally, when the I-CSCF receives an OK signal, the mapping between the user equipment and the S-CSCF is recorded in the cache device.

  • Publication number: 20060030319
Abstract: The present invention provides a method and system for selecting an access network in a heterogeneous network environment. The method records user configuration information in a mobile device and applies the mobile device to first collect and record current status information of each access network, then determines a network stability coefficient for each access network based on both the user configuration information and the current status information, and finally selects an access network with a maximum network stability coefficient to thus establish a connection with the access network selected.

  • Patent number: 6996061
Abstract: A method for dynamic division of the radio capacity in a Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) system between different packet radio services. Each packet radio service is composed of packets with the same or different priority. Several MSs can share a time slot. Information regarding to the interference for each MS is obtained by a request from a mobile station (MS) or through a traffic measurement at the base transceiver station. This information, along with the QoS contract, is used as criteria in allocating more time slots to packet radio service. A framework of dynamic scheduling for mobile communication (DSMC) comprising a Channel Codec Unit (CCU) and a Packet Control Unit (PCU) determines the service rate upon the required QoS of a user and the interference level.

  • Publication number: 20050177723
Abstract: The invention relates to a SIM-based authentication method capable of supporting inter-AP fast handover, which can decrease the number of authentication procedures without negatively influencing the security of the wireless LAN by establishing an encrypted channel for each mobile node and using method 1: an aggressive key pre-distribution and method 2: probe request triggering passive key pre-query technique, thereby reducing the time of inter-AP handover for the mobile node. Furthermore, a re-authentication procedure is started to update the key after the key is used for a long time so as to ensure that the key is safe, thereby effectively achieving a fast and safe wireless LAN environment.

A mobile node is able to roam from an Intranet to a foreign network, and implement a VPN by L2TP. The Intranet has a VPN gateway and a home agent corresponding to the mobile node. The foreign network has a NAT gateway. An L2TP (PPP) tunnel passing the NAT gateway is established between the mobile node in the foreign network and the VPN gateway. The L2TP (PPP) tunnel has a first terminal on the VPN gateway, with an address set to the home agent's IP address, and a second terminal on the mobile node, with an address set to the mobile node's CoA.

  • Publication number: 20050111418
Abstract: The present invention provides a system using label switching techniques to support QoS for mobile ad-hoc networks and its label distributing and switching method. The system includes plural clusters, each having plural mobile nodes. At least one mobile node in a cluster is selected as a routing agent. One routing agent in a cluster is selected as a core routing agent. Each core routing agent is capable of obtaining an unique seed for generating an label L=f(S, i, j)=S×3i×2j to a new LSP, where S is an unique seed that is an unique prime number, except 2 and 3, obtained by the core routing agent, i represents one of different kinds of LSP, and j represents one of different numbers for the same kind of LSP. Through the interconnecting of core routing agents, the virtual backbones can be constructed for bandwidth sharing.

  • Publication number: 20040246972
Abstract: A method and system for applying a multi-protocol label switching (MPLS) network to support QoS in general packet radio service (GPRS) is disclosed. An E-LSP tunnel with reserved bandwidth is pre-configured between Gateway GPRS Support Node (GGSN) and each Service GPRS Support Node (SGSN), and between any two SGSNs. Before an Mobile Station (MS) wishes to transmit or receive packets, it need to ask its designated SSGN for establishing an on-demand L-LSP from the SGSN to the Corresponding Node (CN). This L-LSP is required to tunnel through the pre-configured E-LSP that was mentioned above and here we apply the label stack technique from MPLS. Therefore, the packets of the on-demand L-LSP can be tunneled through the pre-configured E-LSP to the SGSN in which the MS is located, and then the SGSN is able to recognize and locate the mobile station according to the corresponding label in on-demand L-LSP.

  • Publication number: 20030185214
Abstract: The present invention relates to a scheduling unit in a wireless communication system. For sequentially receiving a plurality of Protocol Data Units (PDUs) in a plurality of communication sessions, accumulate and schedule the plurality of PDUs during a predetermined time frame, and transmit the PDUs based on a maximum power-strength of the wireless communication system. The scheduling unit comprises a time-based scheduler and a power-based scheduler. When the power-based scheduler schedules the PDUs, if the total sum of the required power of the PDUs exceeds the maximum power-strength of the wireless communication system, the power-based scheduler sends back to the time-based scheduler the PDUs whose power amounts to the exceeding of the maximum power-strength of the wireless communication system according to the corresponding priority values of the PDUs, so that the wireless communication system transmits all at a time the remaining PDUs whose total power remains within the maximum power-strength.
