  • Patent number: 6493311
Abstract: An automatic balance device for disk includes rolling beads of different sizes and a magnetic piece within the turntable or clamping chassis of the CD-ROM driver. The rolling beads of different sizes will be released from the magnetic piece at different rotating speeds of the disk. Therefore, the rolling beads with larger weight are first released from the magnetic piece and then bumped by the rolling beads with smaller weight, which are released from the magnetic piece at a later time. The rolling beads with larger weight can be moved to a desired position to counteract the imbalance force of the disk.

  • Patent number: 6334372
Abstract: A vibration-reduced disk drive system is provided. The disk drive system comprises a reading device having a mechanism for high speed rotation of a data storage disk, and a weight body disposed adjacent to the reading device. The disk drive system also comprises at least one hanging device formed of a metallic material that joins the reading device and the weight body for transferring vibration therebetween. The disk drive system thus effects vibration dampening for the reading device and its housing, so as to preserve the stability of access to the data stored on the given data storage disk.

  • Publication number: 20010029806
Abstract: A vibration-reducing device is provided for high-speed rotational body, wherein a hanging means and a weight body are arranged to transfer the vibration from the reading device to the weight body at designed angular speed. The vibration of the reading device and the housing thereof will be greatly reduced to ensure the stability of data accessing.

  • Patent number: 5864529
Abstract: A tray for loading and ejecting a disk into and out of a disk drive includes a step wall structure that defines a positioning area for receiving the disk and a clamping arrangement used to hold the disk during loading and unloading when the disk drive is in a vertical position. The clamping arrangement is made up of a clamping device biased by an elastic member so as to apply a radial force to the disk and urge the disk against the step wall. The clamping device includes a flexible mortise slot that engages a pillar extending from the tray to latch the clamping device and thereby disable the clamping device when the disk drive is horizontally positioned.
