  • Publication number: 20190137526
Abstract: A sampling apparatus for sorptive sampling comprises a sample vessel, a sorbent sample probe and an actuator such as a robotic arm. The sample vessel is arranged for containing a liquid to be sampled. The sample probe has a probe section including a sorbent material configured to be inserted into the sample vessel. The probe section includes a sorbent material arranged to acquire analytes from the sample vessel. The actuator is configured to connect to and manipulate both the sample vessel and the sample probe independently. The sample probe is detachably connectable to the actuator such that the actuator is able to connect to and detach from the sample probe in use to selectively interchange the sample probe connected to the actuator with a further sample probe.

  • Patent number: 9947422
Abstract: This invention relates to a control method for a pressurized water nuclear reactor, which comprises a core generating thermal power and means of acquiring magnitudes representative of core operating conditions. The method comprises a step to regulate the temperature of the primary coolant, if the temperature of the primary coolant for a given thermal power is outside a predefined set temperature interval (?TREF) depending on the reactor power. The set temperature interval (?TREF) is characterized by variable amplitude (?T) on a thermal power range between N % and 100% nominal power, where N is between 0 and 100 and comprises a zero amplitude at 100% nominal power, a zero amplitude at N % nominal power.

  • Patent number: 9885147
Abstract: A stain-barrier is described along with methods of its application to a fabric. The stain barrier can be applied to fabric samples and limits the amount of fabric with which deposited liquid is able to interact. This stain barrier reduces unwanted variability between samples of different dilution or fabric type so that limits of stain detection can be assigned more accurately and precisely and stain detection techniques can be transparently compared.

  • Publication number: 20170318361
Abstract: The status of a device is continually monitored by a processor or programmable circuitry that has a powered on mode and a powered off mode. The device includes a short range wireless transceiver which allows the status data to be communicated via a wireless connection to an external wireless communication device, whether the processor or programmable circuitry is in the powered on mode or the powered off mode. The wireless communication device, in turn, transmits the status data to a maintenance/repair/monitoring facility via a communication network. This facilitates monitoring of the device in a non-intrusive manner and streamlines maintenance of the device. The wireless communication device also receives information from the external communication device, including information relevant to the operation of the device, and updates the status data based on the received information. This facilitates updates to the device, as needed.

  • Publication number: 20150363378
Abstract: An approach is provided for managing a display of document unit references. Units of an original version of a document and original references to the units are stored in nodes of a data structure. Responsive to an insertion of a new unit at a location in the document, a new node is inserted into the data structure at a corresponding location, or responsive to a deletion of a unit at the location in the document, a node is deleted from the data structure at the corresponding location. Unit(s) of the updated document resulting from the insertion or deletion are associated to respective original reference(s) in the data structure. During a conference between an editor and other participant(s), a display is generated and presented to the editor. The display includes the unit(s) of the updated document, current reference(s) to the unit(s), and the original reference(s) associated with the unit(s).

  • Patent number: 8244828
Abstract: A Digital Guide System (DGS) assembles and delivers contextual, narrative content information to an end-user requiring a guided or self-guided tour of a physical space. DGS consists of a Content Management System application (CMS), a Channel Administration application (CA), a Content Repository (CR) and a Channel Device application (CDA). CMS allows developers to build content information in discrete narratives using a modular story-building methodology. The CMS stores all information relevant to editorial control and content development in the CR. The CA is a browser-based registration and device management application that delivers content information to devices in channels designated for that content information by the CMS. The CDA allows the user to navigate through the content information using the modular story based organization and collects usage information in a user log for transmittal to the CA.

  • Patent number: 8041025
Abstract: Methods and arrangements for controlling modes of audio devices according to user selectable features are disclosed. The system can receive a user selection for an alternate mode for audio device. A monitor can monitor audio levels in a physical area and the system can automatically switch an audio device from a current mode to the alternate mode when the monitored audio level exceeds a predetermined threshold. The alternate mode can provide a higher audio level or volume than the current mode. The alternate mode can also be a closed caption mode, a record mode, and a transcript mode to name a few. Thus, when the ambient sound level reaches a predetermined level many audio devices can change modes based on user configured instructions.

  • Publication number: 20110167114
Abstract: A method and system for automatically synchronizing a connection to a new contact across a plurality of social networking websites. A repository stores a first user's profile that includes the first user's identifiers for multiple social networking websites (SNs) and the first user's master list of contacts. An alert is presented to the first user, where the alert indicates a request from a second user to establish a connection in a first SN between the first user and the second user. The first user approves the request to establish the connection in the first SN. If a search of the repository finds the second user's profile, then (1) connection(s) between the first user and second user are established in other social networking websites in which said first user participates and (2) the second user is added to the first user's master list of contacts.
