  • Patent number: 9516238
Abstract: A method and apparatus apply one of a plurality of different levels of noise suppression to a pixel based on a difference between illuminance values for the pixel in the presence of (a) both a flash and ambient light and (b) without the flash.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 10, 2011
Date of Patent: December 6, 2016
    Assignee: Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.
Inventors: Peter I. Majewicz, Jennifer L. Melin
  • Patent number: 8421873
Abstract: A system composed of a housing and an arm coupled to the housing. The arm supports a first lamp, a second lamp, and an optical sensor.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 30, 2010
Date of Patent: April 16, 2013

  • Publication number: 20130016262
Abstract: One example discloses a method for producing an image of a scene. An ambient image of the scene illuminated only by ambient light is captured. A percentage of pixels in the calibration image having a digital count greater than a threshold digital count is determined. A first image capture technique is performed if a percentage of pixels in the ambient image having a digital count greater than a threshold digital count is above a threshold percentage. A second image capture technique is performed if the percentage of pixels in the ambient image having a digital count greater than a threshold digital count is not above the threshold percentage.

  • Patent number: 6934834
Abstract: A computer program and method for controlling the manner in which an operating system associated with a computer launches a plurality of application programs. Briefly described, one of many possible embodiments is a computer program for use in a computer having an operating system. The computer program may comprise code for: determining application programs that are to be launched by the operating system; determining a program launch procedure associated with the application programs, the program launch procedure defining a sequence in which the application programs are to be launched by the operating system, the sequence based on the functionality of at least one of the application programs; and launching the application programs with the operating system based on the program launch procedure.

  • Publication number: 20030048303
Abstract: An implementation of a technology is described herein for facilitating the direction of push scanning from an input peripheral to one or more destinations of multiple of such possible destinations. With this technology, a user of a scanner quickly and easily performs a “push scan” to a primary target computer of one of multiple targets connected to the scanner (directly or via a network). The user selects a primary target (e.g., a computer) of one of multiple targets connected thereto (directly or via a network) and a secondary target (e.g., a file, an application, an email, a fax, etc.) associated with that primary target. Once selected, the user scans a document at the scanner. The scanner notifies the primary target of the scan request and that it is the intended destination. The primary target initiates and controls the scan. When it receives the scanned data, it directs it to the secondary target. This abstract itself is not intended to limit the scope of this patent.
