Patent number: 4763916Abstract: The disclosure relates to a jackknifing controlling system, for reducing undesirable jackknifing in an articulated vehicle, particularly with a rear drive. Sensing means is provided for measuring the angle of steering as well as the angle of articulation. At all times, the actual angle of articulation is compared to an ideal angle of articulation for the particular angle of steering, the ideal angle having been preprogrammed into a memory device. Whenever the actual angle of articulation deviates from the preprogrammed ideal angle by a predetermined amount, control actions are initiated to control the articulation. Further articulation in the direction of deviation is immediately blocked. Articulation in the opposite direction, toward the ideal, is freely allowed if the deviation exceeds a predetermined amount. If it is less than the predetermined amount, articulation, even toward the ideal angle is, damped by throttling of hydraulic flows.Type: GrantFiled: June 24, 1987Date of Patent: August 16, 1988Assignee: Autoipari Kutato es Fejleszto VallalatInventors: Istvan Ratsko, Attila Madocsay, Jozsef Ivony, Bela Horvath, Jeno Madi

Patent number: 4570964Abstract: The invention relates to an elastic self-carrying bellows-body, in particular for vehicles, having been formed with ribs separated by spacings and interconnected with connecting means. The essence of the invention lies in that the thickness of the connecting means interconnecting the ribs is less on at least two opposite sides of the bellows-body, than that of the ribs and the ribs and connecting means are formed as monolithic units.Type: GrantFiled: June 8, 1983Date of Patent: February 18, 1986Assignee: Taurus Gumiipari VallalatInventors: Ilona Tatay, Gusztav Gundisch, Jeno Madi, Laszlo Palotas, Gyula Subotics

Patent number: 4494765Abstract: The invention relates to an anti-jackknifing device for an articulated motor vehicle, mainly for an articulated bus, where the torque influencing the jackknifing angle is brought about by a friction brake mechanism around the articulated coupling. The anti-jackknifing device has sensor elements sensing the run-dynamic characteristics connected to a control unit that controls the brake actuating unit of the brake mechanism. One of the elements of the friction brake mechanism braked in relation to each other is connected to one of the two or three vehicle units coupled to each other--i.e. front vehicle, trailer and intermediate vehicle unit--while the other element is connected to at least one of the further two vehicle units. One of the friction elements of the friction brake mechanism according to the invention is formed as brake rod connected to one of the vehicle units, the other friction element i.e.Type: GrantFiled: May 13, 1982Date of Patent: January 22, 1985Assignees: Autoipari Kutato Intezet, IKARUS Karosszeria es JarmugyarInventors: Istvan Ratsko, Jozsef Ivony, Gyorgy Karaszi, Jeno Madi, Nandor Liptai

Patent number: 4455035Abstract: A anti-jackknifing device for a motor vehicle having two articulated units with a friction brake therebetween has a hydraulic control means for controlling the torque applied by the brake. A hydraulic sensor activating cylinder with two working spaces senses the jackknifing angle between the two units. A three-position four-way reversible valve is connected to the hydraulic brake activating cylinder, between a third port and a check valve and the valve in its first position connects its first and third ports and its second and fourth ports and in its second position connects its first and fourth ports and its second and third ports. A steering angle sensor is provided which determines the desired jackknifing angle therefor.Type: GrantFiled: February 17, 1982Date of Patent: June 19, 1984Inventors: Jozsef Ivony, Istvan Ratsko, Gyorgy Karaszy, Jeno Madi

Patent number: 4366966Abstract: A jackknifing limiting device for articulated motor vehicles in which the vehicle has a front section and a rear section which are connected by a hinge therebetween, the device acting to limit the angle between the front and rear sections when the vehicle is turning, the device comprising a pair of hydraulic cylinders flanking the hinge and connected between the front and rear sections and a reservoir containing hydraulic fluid for the cylinders. Respective pressure regulating valves are connected between the reservoir and the cylinders and open unidirectionally toward the reservoir, with respective solenoid stop valves connected between the regulating valves and the reservoir, the stop valves being normally open. Respective check valves are provided in respective bypass lines connected between the reservoir and the cylinders, the check valves opening unidirectionally toward the cylinders.Type: GrantFiled: December 24, 1980Date of Patent: January 4, 1983Assignee: Autoipari Kutato IntezetInventors: Istvan Ratsko, Jozsef Ivony, Gyorgy Karaszy, Jeno Madi

Patent number: 4365685Abstract: Equipment influencing the jacknifing angle of an articulated motor vehicle, when the vehicle units are in articulated coupling with each other, has a hydraulic piston device with two working spaces arranged outside the longitudinal centerline of the motor vehicle, the piston of which is connected to one unit, while its cylinder is connected to the other vehicle unit. Each working space is connected through a hydraulic valve unit to the hydraulic space of the hydropneumatic energy source, the valve unit has a parallel connected check valve and choke valve closing from the direction of the working space toward the hydropneumatic energy source. An adjustable transfer cross sectional closing element of the choke valve is in functional connection with the sensor element sensing the steering angle and direction of the front axle and the actuating signal of the sensor element is concomitant with the position of one of the choke valves bringing about increased choking.Type: GrantFiled: August 21, 1980Date of Patent: December 28, 1982Assignees: Autoipari Kutato Intezet, Ikarus Karosszeria es JarmugyarInventors: Istvan Ratsko, Jozsef Ivony, Jeno Madi, Gyorgy Karaszi

Patent number: 4344640Abstract: An antijackknifing apparatus for an articulated vehicle has an angle evaluating unit and an articulation locking mechanism including a locking activator unit. A control signal is produced corresponding to the sign of the deviation of the angle of articulation, the sign being positive when disposed to the right when viewed from above in the direction of movement and being negative when disposed to the left. The locking actuator unit also receives a direction signal which is positive when the change in the angle of articulation of the vehicle when view from above is clockwise and negative when counterclockwise. The locking activator unit goes into a locked condition when two opposite sign input signals are applied thereto.Type: GrantFiled: August 21, 1980Date of Patent: August 17, 1982Assignees: Autoipari Kutato Intezet, Ikarus Karosszeria es JarmugyarInventors: Istvan Ratsko, Jozsef Ivony, Jeno Madi, Gyorgy Karasz
