  • Patent number: 5615455
Abstract: In a tie including an elongated tongue and a locking head having a movable pawl that is hinged at one side of the opening of the locking head across the opening from an abutment wall for locking engagement with a set of ratchet teeth on the tongue when the tip of the tongue has been inserted through the opening, the abutment wall is enhanced for withstanding a force that would tend to bow the abutment wall when the pawl forces the tongue against the abutment wall in response to a pulling force applied to the tongue in a direction opposite to the direction of insertion, but does not require as much material as would be required for an abutment wall that merely had increased thickness and, when the tie is made by injection molding, the abutment wall is not significantly subject to deformation when the injected plastic material cools.

  • Patent number: 5568126
Abstract: A physiological-condition monitoring system is attached to a person for providing monitored physiological data signals. A computer system processes the physiological data signals to determine whether the person may have suddenly experienced fear by comparing the monitored physiological data with stored stress profile data for the person. The stress profile data is based upon prior measurements of the monitored physiological conditions of the person during situations of stress. When such processing by the computer system determines that the person may have suddenly experienced fear, the computer system provides an alarm-indication signal to an initial alarm indicator. If the initial alarm indication was false or if the condition causing the person to suddenly experience fear was very brief and no longer poses a threat, the person can operate an alarm deactuation switch to cause the computer system to discontinue the alarm indication signal.

  • Patent number: 5372773
Abstract: A nylon cable tie having a head and a strap terminating in a tip is formed in a mold cavity defined between a first mold part combined wish a second mold part by injecting molten nylon material into the mold cavity through an insulated runner system and a gate that converges from the runner system toward the mold cavity and does not have a hot tip adjacent thereto. The mold parts are separated while retaining a portion of the head in a head region in the first mold part and a portion of the tip in a tip region in the second mold part, in order to separate the head from the second mold part, to separate the tip from the first mold part, and to separate a major portion of the strap from the first and second mold parts. The mold parts are further separated while retaining said portion of the head in the head region to thereby remove said portion of the tip from the second mold part. The head is ejected from the head region by protracted ejector pins that penetrate the head region from within the first mold part.

  • Patent number: 5049343
Abstract: A highly efficient and highly controllable method and an apparatus for core-back injection molding of multi-component plastic products. Core-back injection molding makes possible the injection of a first plastic material into a mold cavity, followed by retracting a barrier means, in order to enable injection of a second plastic material without separating any mold halves. The present invention enables very efficient injection molding because both injection units may be operated at the time, and the present invention enables very controlled injection because it is possible to inject only one half of the cavities by a specific injection unit at the same time, or even only one quarter of the cavities by a specific injection unit at the same time. The injection molding apparatus includes a first injection unit, a second injection unit, a right adjustable mold cavity with a first moveable barring means, a left adjustable mold cavity with a second moveable barring means, and a common standard clamping unit.
