  • Patent number: 5746965
Abstract: In a method of injection molding a tie that includes an abutment wall surface having at least one tooth inside a locking head facing a pawl, a retractable core that defines at least a portion of the abutment surface that includes the at least one abutment surface tooth is retracted so that the tie can be removed from the mold without significantly damaging the at least one abutment surface tooth. The core is disposed for retraction in a direction inclined toward the pawl at an acute angle away from the direction of insertion of the tongue of the tie into the locking head.

  • Patent number: 5745034
Abstract: A computer system processes physiological data signals provided by a physiological-condition monitoring system to determine whether the person may have suddenly experienced fear by comparing the monitored physiological data with stored stress profile data for the person that is based upon measurements of the monitored physiological conditions of the person during situations of stress and/or upon statistical classification in view of a combination of predetermined characteristics of the person. When such processing by the computer system determines that the person may have suddenly experienced fear, the computer system activates an alarm indicator. The computer system includes a neural network for modifying the stored stress profile data in response to an input signal indicating that the computer system provided a false alarm indication. The surrounding conditions that may have caused the determination of probable fear are recorded and transmitted to a remote location.

  • Patent number: 5716582
Abstract: During operation of a molding apparatus that combines a cavity part having a plurality of cavity sections and a core part having a plurality of cores to define a plurality of mold cavities therebetween, when the cavity part and the core part are first separated from one another following formation of products in the mold cavities, force is applied to the products in order to retain the products in the cavity part. While the cavity part and the core part are being further separated from one another the products are moved from the cavity part to the core part; and the products are ejected from the core part when the cavity part and the core part are still further separated from one another. Alternatively, the products are ejected from the cavity part.

  • Patent number: 5716579
Abstract: In a method of injection molding a tie that includes an abutment wall surface having at least one tooth inside a locking head facing a pawl, a first mold part defines a portion of the abutment surface that includes the at least one abutment surface tooth and a second mold part defines at least a portion of a surface of the abutment wall that is on the opposite side of the abutment wall from the portion of the abutment surface that includes the at least one abutment surface tooth. The first mold part is separated from the second mold part while retaining the abutment wall in the first mold part to separate the second mold part from the opposite side of the abutment wall to thereby enable the abutment wall to flex in a direction away from the pawl into a space vacated by separation of the second mold part from the opposite side of the abutment wall so that the tie can be removed from the mold without significantly damaging the at least one abutment surface tooth.

  • Patent number: 5707577
Abstract: In an injection molding apparatus in which first and second mold parts are combined to define therebetween an insulated section of a runner system through which molten plastic material is injected into at least one mold cavity, spring-biased plungers are included in at least one of the first and second mold parts for restraining a shell of plastic material within at least a part of the insulated section of the runner system from contacting any portion of at least one of the mold parts within the insulated section of the runner system other than the plungers when the first and second mold parts are separated from one another.

  • Patent number: 5693282
Abstract: An injection molded elongated article having a head and a strap, such as a cable tie, is ejected from between separated first and second mold parts by imparting a forceful gaseous stream between the mold parts to thereby peel a first portion of the strap from the first mold part after a second portion of the strap adjacent the head of the article was peeled from the first mold part by ejecting the head of the article from the first mold part while retaining the first portion of the strap in the first mold part. In a multi-cavity injection molding apparatus, a pair of nozzles are contained within each of a plurality of components through which compressed air flows into the region between the mold parts; and the nozzles are disposed closely adjacent the heads of a pair of cable ties for imparting a pair of gaseous streams from the component for peeling the first portions of the straps from the first mold part.

  • Patent number: 5690883
Abstract: In a method of injection molding a tie that includes an abutment wall surface having at least one tooth inside a locking head facing a pawl is formed in a mold that defines a tie in which the abutment wall includes at least one bulge adjacent each of opposite ends of the abutment wall for holding the abutment wall in the respective mold parts when the mold parts are first separated, with the at least one bulge adjacent one end of the abutment wall being defined by a first mold part and the at least one bulge adjacent the opposite end of the abutment wall being defined by a second mold part. As the first and second mold parts are being separated, the bulges initially hold the abutment wall in the respective first and second mold parts and thereby stretch and reduce the thickness of the abutment wall so that the tie can be removed from the mold without significantly damaging the at least one abutment surface tooth.

  • Patent number: 5688541
Abstract: In a multi-cavity molding apparatus that includes a cavity part having a plurality of cavity sections that is combined with a core part having a plurality of cores to define a plurality of mold cavities therebetween, and a plurality of locking rings respectively disposed around a plurality of the cores for engagement with respective cavity sections when the core part is combined with the cavity part, a cavity shield is attached to the cavity part to prevent molded products ejected from the mold cavities from entering spaces between the cavity sections of the cavity part and a core shield is attached to the core part to help prevent the ejected products from entering spaces between the cores of the core part. The cavity shield and the core shield thereby respectively limit obstruction by the cavity part and the core part of removal of the ejected products from the space between the cavity past and the core part. The core shield includes more than the ejection means.
