Patent number: 11067407Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure relate to generating turn-by-turn direction previews. In one aspect, one or more computing devices, may receive a request for a turn-by-turn direction preview. The one or more computing devices may generate a set of directions from a first geographic location to a second geographic location. Each turn of the directions may be associated with a corresponding waypoint. The one or more computing devices may then identify street level images corresponding with the waypoints, and display a preview of their associated turns by displaying their street level images and a map in between.Type: GrantFiled: May 16, 2019Date of Patent: July 20, 2021Assignee: Google LLCInventors: Alan Sheridan, Daniel Joseph Filip, Jeremy Bryant Pack

Patent number: 10775188Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure relate to generating turn-by-turn direction previews. In one aspect, one or more computing devices, may receive a request for a turn-by-turn direction preview. The one or more computing devices may generate a set of turn-by-turn directions based on a series of road segments connecting a first geographic location and a second geographic location. Each direction in the set of turn-by-turn directions may be associated with a corresponding waypoint. The one or more computing devices then identify a set of images corresponding the series of road segments between two adjacent waypoints of the set of turn-by-turn directions, and determine a subset of the set of images to include in the turn-by-turn direction preview. Subsequently, the one or more computing devices may generate the turn-by-turn direction preview based on at least in part on the determined subset of the set of images.Type: GrantFiled: November 7, 2017Date of Patent: September 15, 2020Assignee: Google LLCInventors: Alan Sheridan, Daniel Joseph Filip, Jeremy Bryant Pack

Patent number: 10331733Abstract: In response to a request for images of a location, a set of images depicting different conditions at the location is identified. Each image of the set of images is associated with condition information defining the conditions depicted in that image. A point in time of interest to a user is determined, and information identifying environmental conditions at the location for that point in time may be received. The set of images are ranked based on the received environmental information and the condition information for each image. An image from the set of images is selected for display based on the selected image's rank relative to other images of the set of images. The selected image depicts conditions at the location most closely matching environmental conditions expected at the point in time.Type: GrantFiled: April 20, 2017Date of Patent: June 25, 2019Assignee: Google LLCInventors: Evan Rapoport, Jeremy Bryant Pack

Patent number: 9672223Abstract: In an exemplary method, a request for images of a location is received. In response to the request, a set of images depicting different conditions at the location is identified. Each image of the set of images is associated with condition information defining the conditions depicted in that image. It may be determined when a user will be at the location at a future point in time. Information identifying current environmental conditions at the location for the future point in time may be received. The set of images are ranked based on the received environmental information and the condition information for each image. An image from the set of images is selected for display based on the selected image's rank relative to other images of the set of images. The selected image depicts current conditions at the location most closely matching environmental conditions expected at the future point in time.Type: GrantFiled: April 25, 2013Date of Patent: June 6, 2017Assignee: Google Inc.Inventors: Evan Rapoport, Jeremy Bryant Pack

Patent number: 9275460Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure relates generally to deciding which part of a panoramic image is most important and using that as a reference point for displaying the panoramic image to user. For example, a 360 degree panoramic image associated with orientation and location information may be identified. Related images, for example, in content and location may also be identified. The related images may be projected as points on a unit circle representing the orientations of the panoramic image. The point farthest from an average location of the points may be removed until the average location of the points is at least a minimum distance from the center of the circle. When this occurs, an angular location of the average location relative to the circle may be identified as a reference orientation. The reference orientation may be associated with the panoramic image, and the association may be stored in memory.Type: GrantFiled: October 17, 2012Date of Patent: March 1, 2016Assignee: Google Inc.Inventor: Jeremy Bryant Pack
