  • Publication number: 20170048663
Abstract: Assisted global positioning system (AGPS) information is retrieved from mobile devices and employed to facilitate antenna location. Measurement information, including AGPS information, can be received from a plurality of mobile devices dispersed over a geographical region. The measurement information can include location and timing information for the plurality of mobile devices. A timing difference between co-located antennas of a base station associated with the plurality of mobile devices can be computed. The location of the co-located antennas can be determined based on evaluating errors resultant from estimations based on a plurality of test locations. The measurement information can be aggregated over time and can be employed to update the antenna locations.

  • Publication number: 20170031016
Abstract: A target tracking device transmits a radio frequency beam towards a scene, detects backscatter comprising at least a portion of the RF beam reflected from a reflecting object at the scene, and performs operations that include determining whether the reflecting object is a tracking target, determining a position of the tracking target, and generating tracking information indicative of a position adjustment for maintaining an alignment of the target tracking device and the tracking target. A target tracking method includes transmitting a millimeter wavelength beam in a direction of orientation of a camera, detecting backscatter reflected from a reflecting object, determining whether the reflecting object is a tracking target, and determining a position of the tracking target. If a distance to the tracking target has increased from a prior distance, tracking information indicative of a position adjustment for offsetting the increase in distance may be generated.

  • Publication number: 20170026619
Abstract: Systems, processes and computer-readable media that incorporate the subject disclosure may include, for example, the establishment of wireless communications with a wireless communications device positioned for monitoring an event. A media stream including event media is received from the wireless communications device. The event media is generated by the wireless communications device obtained from the observation position. The media stream is forwarded to a media production processor. Upon selection, the media production processor uses the media stream to prepare media program coverage of the event. Other embodiments are disclosed.

  • Patent number: 9542601
Abstract: A system that incorporates teachings of the subject disclosure may include, for example, a processor that can detect an event, access location information for a group of mobile communication devices that are each automatically capturing images, and identify a subset of the group of mobile communication devices that are in proximity to the event based on the location information. The processor can provide first image analysis criteria to the subset of the group of mobile communication devices without providing the first image analysis criteria to remaining devices of the group of mobile communication devices where the first image analysis criteria includes first characteristics associated with an object. The processor can receive a first target image that includes the object from a first mobile communication device of the subset of the group of mobile communication devices. Other embodiments are disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20160381512
Abstract: Determining referenced based location information for a wireless radio network is described. Referenced based location information can include determining location reference information and corresponding location offset information based on location information. In an aspect, location information can be timed fingerprint location information. Location offset information can be communicated in a wireless network at a lower operational cost than the associated location information. As such, use of referenced based location information for a wireless network can reduce bandwidth consumption as compared to location information communicated at similar intervals. This is particularly true in large wireless networks.

  • Patent number: 9521630
Abstract: A group of low power transceiver devices may create a private wireless network. In a private communication network, each device may monitor neighboring devices and transmit a low power signal on a periodic basis. At any time, if a device breaks away from the private communication network, the device determines its location and then transmits its location to one or more devices in the group at a high transmit power level.

  • Patent number: 9519043
Abstract: Systems and techniques for determining the accuracy of network based user equipment (UE) locating methods and results thereof are disclosed. Periodic direct measurements of location error for a network based location result are determined by the difference in the network based location result and an assisted global positioning system (AGPS) location result. The location error is associated with a cell-pair contributing to data employed to determine the network based location result. The error associated with the cell-pair is then applied as a measure of accuracy in future network based location results that also employ data associated with the cell-pair to determine the future network based location result.

  • Patent number: 9521647
Abstract: Site location determination using crowd sourced propagation delay and location data is provided. A propagation delay component receives a set of propagation delay measurements for communications between a mobile device and an access point. A user equipment location component receives a location of the mobile device, and a combination component combines the set of propagation delay measurements and the location into a set of location data. An access point location component determines a set of intersecting locations between the set of location data and additional sets of location data, and determines a location of the access point based on the set of intersecting locations.

  • Patent number: 9510355
Abstract: The disclosed subject matter provides for selecting a radio access technology resource based on historical data related to the radio access technology resource. Location information can be employed to determine a radio access technology resource. Historical information related to the radio access technology resource can then be employed to determine the suitability of the radio access technology resource. A set of radio access technology resources can be ordered or ranked to allow selection of a suitable radio access technology resource from the set. Incorporation of historical information can provide for additional metrics in the selection of a radio access technology resource over simple contemporaneous radio access technology resource information. In some embodiments, timed fingerprint location (TFL) information can be employed to determine a location.

  • Publication number: 20160306813
Abstract: Methods and devices for determining a number of mobile devices travelling from a first location to a second location are disclosed. A method includes determining a first subset of mobile location records associated with the first location, determining mobile device identifiers associated with the first subset, and modifying mobile location records in the first subset by replacing a mobile device identifier contained in each mobile location record with a new identifier of the first subset. • Publication number: 20160309441
Abstract: Downlink signal strength measurements from base stations (BSs) are reported by mobile devices to facilitate mobile device locating. A system receives the signal strength information and determines whether the mobile device is within a selected distance from any of the BSs in response to detecting that signal strength information for one of the BSs is greater than a predefined value. The system determines an area over which to search for the mobile device if the system fails to detect that the signal strength information for any of the BSs is greater than the predefined value. The area over which the search is performed is an intersection of all regions determined by the signal strengths of the BSs.

  • Patent number: 9473202
Abstract: Detection of a confusion caused by scrambling code reuse is provided herein. Timing measurements, as observed by a mobile device, and an identification of primary scrambling codes associated with the timing measurements are captured. The timing measurements are identified by the primary scrambling codes for the particular radio measured. The mobile device also reports its location information. Radios for which timing measurements have been received are paired. Based on the paired radios and a history of observed time difference reference values for radio pairs, comparisons are made between paired radios having at least one common radio. Radios, exhibiting a set of values that is near an expected range, are removed from the analysis. Radios, exhibiting two sets of values that are distinct, are isolated in order to identify the radio that is causing the scrambling code confusion.

  • Patent number: 9473889
Abstract: A method, computer-readable storage device, and an apparatus for determining a probability for a particular geo-fence in a wireless network are disclosed. For example, the method receives a mobile identification, a location record, and an accuracy level, identifies a bin in a database of record, identifies one or more geo-fences in which the bin is located, identifies one or more geo-fences that are pre-associated with the mobile user endpoint device, determines an intersection of: the one or more geo-fences that are identified as being pre-associated with the user endpoint device, and the one or more geo-fences that are identified as being geo-fences in which the bin is located, and determines for each particular geo-fence in the intersection, the probability of being in the particular geo-fence, wherein the probability of being in the particular geo-fence is determined in accordance with the accuracy level associated with the location record.
