The transfer case includes a shift rod, a piston assembly including a first piston coupled to the shift rod and a second piston selectively engageable with the first piston, and a resilient member positioned to bias the shift rod and the first piston into a high position corresponding with a high mode of operation of the transfer case. The override system includes a housing coupled to the transfer case, a lever coupled to the housing and pivotable between a first position and a second position, and an engagement element disposed within the housing and coupled to the lever. The engagement element is configured to engage the second piston in response to the lever being pivoted from the first position to the second position.
