Publication number: 20240111031Abstract: Methods and systems for improved inspection, measurements, mapping, monitoring, and trending of underwater infrastructure that contains or are located in fluids, and/or that is difficult to access. The methods and systems include a housing containing a light source, a hollow core motor, a reflector, and a pressure tolerant window. The light source is disposed to pass output light along a path that passes through an axis of rotation of the hollow core motor to the reflector. The reflector rotates about the axis of rotation of the motor and operates to reflect the light at an angle to the rotation axis. In at least some embodiments, the light is passed through a full 360 degrees about the axis of rotation. The described methods and devices utilize one or more non-touch underwater optical system (including laser systems) for underwater equipment and infrastructure inspection, measurements, mapping, monitoring, trending, and maintenance.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 29, 2023Publication date: April 4, 2024Applicant: 3D at Depth, Inc.Inventors: Carl W. Patent number: 10281483Abstract: A device includes an image sensor, first optics, second optics, and a processor. The first optics are configured to form a first optical pattern (OP) on the image sensor. The first OP is associated with a first wavelength. The second optics are configured to form a second OP on the image sensor. The second OP is associated with a second wavelength that is longer than the first wavelength. The processor is configured to generate a first turbulence estimate based on relative motion of the first OP, to generate a second turbulence estimate based on relative motion of the second OP, and to generate error correction data. The processor is also configured to adjust the first turbulence estimate based on the error correction data and the second turbulence estimate to determine an estimated turbulence value. The processor may also be configured to estimate a wind profile, a turbulence profile, or both.Type: GrantFiled: April 19, 2017Date of Patent: May 7, 2019Assignee: THE BOEING COMPANYInventors: Ralph Galetti, Teresa Neudecker, Richard Holmes, Jeremy Manning, Robert Fetner, III, Angel Portillo

Publication number: 20050156340Abstract: Prior art processes for producing protein-based capsules (for example, capsules for use in electrophoretic media) tend to be wasteful because they produce many capsules outside the desired size range, which is typically about 20 to 50 ?m. Capsule size distribution and yields can be improved by either (a) emulsifying a water-immiscible phase in a preformed coacervate of the protein; or (b) using a limited coalescence process with colloidal alumina as the surface-active particulate material.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 19, 2005Publication date: July 21, 2005Applicant: E INK CORPORATIONInventors: Peter Valianatos, Rajesh Chebiyam, Jeremy Manning, Michael Steiner, Thomas Whitesides, Michael Walls
