  • Patent number: 6524702
Abstract: The present invention relates to electrically conductive devices comprising at least one electrically conductive substrate surrounded by an interpolymer composition. The interpolymer composition comprises at least one substantially random interpolymer comprising: (i) polymer units derived from: (a) at least one vinyl or vinylidene aromatic monomer, or (b) at least one hindered aliphatic or cycloaliphatic vinyl or vinylidene monomer; or (c) a combination of at least on vinyl or vinylidene aromatic monomer and at least one hindered aliphatic or cycloaliphatic vinyl or vinylidene monomer; and (ii) polymer units derived from at least one aliphatic olefin monomer having from about 2 to about 20 carbon atoms. Such devices include, for example, wire and cable assemblies.

  • Patent number: 6262161
Abstract: The present invention relates to compositions having enhanced ignition resistance, comprising: (A) from about 5 to about 90 percent by weight of at least one substantially random interpolymer; (B) from about 10 to about 94.9 percent by weight of at least one filler selected from ammonium polyphosphate, magnesium hydroxide, calcium hydroxide, and aluminum trihydrate; and (C) at least one component selected from; (1) about 5 to about 50 percent by weight of at least one filler; or (2) about 0.5 to about 20 percent by weight of at least one metal borate, and, optionally, about 0.5 to about 10 percent by weight of at least one processing aid; or (3) about 0.1 to about 15 percent by weight of at least one initiator or at least one coupling agent; or (4) about 0.1 to about 20 percent by weight of at least one hindered amine stabilizer.

  • Patent number: 6254956
Abstract: A floor, wall or ceiling covering which comprises one or more substantially random interpolymers prepared by polymerizing one or more &agr;-olefin monomers with one or more vinylidene aromatic monomers and/or one or more hindered aliphatic or cycloaliphatic vinylidene monomers, and optionally with other polymerizable ethylenically unsaturated monomer(s). The floor, wall or ceiling covering has a good balance of properties, such as sufficient flexibility and conformability to uneven or contoured surfaces for efficient application to floors, walls, or ceilings, sufficient scratch resistance, sufficient indentation resistance, indentation recovery and/or sufficient abrasion resistance.
