  • Patent number: 7957570
Abstract: A system and method to generate an illustration of a cardiac region of interest of an imaged subject is provided. The method includes generating a three-dimensional model from a series of acquired images of the cardiac region of interest; measuring a series of values of at least one functional parameter of the cardiac region of interest; generating a map of a spatial relation of the plurality of values of the functional parameter in spatial relation to the three-dimensional model of the cardiac region of interest; generating a three-dimensional model of a vessel structure leading to the cardiac region of interest; generating an output image that includes combining the three-dimensional model of the cardiac region of interest, the map of the series of values of the functional parameter, and the three-dimensional model of the vessel structure in spatial relation to one another relative to a common coordinate system.

  • Patent number: 6718193
Abstract: A method and apparatus for displaying information concerning a tubular structure is disclosed. The method includes determining a centerline of the tubular structure and a plurality of center points along that centerline, determining a plurality of cross-sections at the respective center points that are perpendicular to the centerline, and identifying first values associated with each of the cross-sections and indicative of a first characteristic of the tubular structure. The method additionally includes generating a modified image of the tubular structure by determining a plurality of image lines corresponding to the respective cross-sections, and displaying a curve that represents the first characteristic alongside the modified image. The curve is formed by displaying, along a scale, a plurality of second values that are functionally related to the respective first values, each second value being positioned alongside the modified image along a respective one of the image lines.

  • Patent number: 6643533
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for displaying a structure of a vessel are disclosed. In one embodiment, the method includes identifying a centerline of the vessel within a portion of the vessel that includes the structure, identifying a contour of the vessel within a cross-sectional plane that is normal to a selected point along the centerline, measuring lengths of a plurality of segments that pass across the contour through the selected point, selecting one of the plurality of segments, and displaying an imaging plane defined by the selected one segment and an axis that is tangent to the centerline at the point. In another embodiment, the method includes determining a centerline of a tubular structure, selecting a section of the centerline, determining a plane that minimizes the distance to the selected section, and displaying the plane.

  • Patent number: 6526117
Abstract: A method and apparatus for generating an optimally registered working set of two-dimensional CT images in a gated CT system, the method including, where an acquisition period is divided into sequential acquisition phases, obtaining CT image data for separate phase ranges during each acquisition phase, generating phase image sets including 2D images for each phase range and selecting one phase range image set corresponding to each acquisition phase to generate a working image set where the selected phase range image sets are optimally aligned.
