  • Patent number: 5235987
Abstract: A one-piece needle guide for use with a medical ultrasonic scanning apparatus to guide a needle. The needle guide includes a body which is adapted to be releasably secured to the scanning apparatus. A tubular channel extends the length of the body on its upper surface. The channel is for engaging and guiding the needle in proper alignment with the scanning apparatus. A pair of flexible lips form the shape of the channel and are adapted to secure the needle in a slidable manner. The flexibility of the lips allow the needle to be removed from the body.

  • Patent number: 4329211
Abstract: An improved method and apparatus for electrocoagulating waste water or fluids to remove colloidal suspensions therein is described. The apparatus includes at least one module having a plurality of closely spaced, flat electrodes defining a plurality of flow paths therebetween. Each pair of electrodes is separately mounted in the module and each electrode has a separate connection to a source of alternating current. Each pair may then be rapidly removed from the module for inspection, maintenance, or replacement or alternate pairs may be removed increasing the distance between the electrodes, if desired. The method allows the utilization of a fluidized bed of graphite particles to scrub the electrode faces, and it also permits the repelling forces on suspended solids to be broken on a continuous basis at relatively low current density in a collapsing field of alternating current.

  • Patent number: 4288667
Abstract: A telescoping high current disconnect switch for isolated phase bus includes a pair of axially spaced cylindrical fixed conductors insulatingly mounted within a cylindrical aluminum housing. An aluminum telescope section is coaxial with the fixed conductors and is insulatingly mounted upon a plurality of rollway pillow blocks each containing ball bearings. The pillow blocks are supported by guide rails of austenitic non-ferromagnetic stainless steel which are attached to the interior surface of the housing. The telescope section is axially movable along the guide rails to bridge the fixed conductors, such movement causing the ball bearings to cold-form grooves in the rails, whereby portions of the rails are work-hardened.

  • Patent number: 4188516
Abstract: A telescoping disconnect switch for isolated phase bus has a cylindrical movable conductor having a plurality of individual contact assemblies each comprising a contact finger and an axially loaded spring fixedly attached thereto. The contact assemblies are circumferentially arranged about the movable conductor and are removably secured between a contact holder ring and a spring retainer ring. A plurality of stabilizer pads are symmetrically arranged around the circumference of the movable conductor between the contact fingers and are fixedly secured to the movable conductor to stabilize the contact assemblies and align the conductor as it moves to open and close the circuit.

  • Patent number: 4188514
Abstract: An isolated phase bus disconnect switch has a cylindrical center conductor coaxially disposed in a cylindrical conductive housing having an access port. The edges of the port which are perpendicular to the housing have a conductive gasket of tinned copper braid bolted thereto. A curved conductive cover has a rubber gasket attached to its edges. The cover is removably secured to the housing by a plurality of hold-down hinges attached to the housing which supply sufficient pressure to the cover to seal the rubber gasket and produce electrical contact between the cover and the housing. The electrical path from housing to gasket to cover to gasket to housing eliminates the electrical discontinuity caused by the access port, thus preventing destructive electrodynamic forces between the center conductor and the housing.

  • Patent number: 4139748
Abstract: Retractable secondary contacts characterized by stationary and movable secondary contacts, one of which stationary and movable contacts is retractably mounted on a drawout circuit breaker, the other of which stationary and movable secondary contact is mounted on a cell into which the drawout circuit breaker is movable, one of the movable and fixed secondary contacts being retractably mounted to enable closing of the stationary and movable secondary contacts before closing of primary terminal means and after opening of the primary terminal means, whereby remote breaker operations, such as metering, may be tested prior to closing of the primary contact means.
