  • Patent number: 8549908
Abstract: A flow body flow meter includes a flow body and a sensor having one or more probes in the flow body. As a wet gas stream enters the flow body, an internal passage imparts angular momentum to the stream to induce a rotating flow. The wet gas stream at least intermittently carries liquid phase particles and the inertia of the denser liquid phase particles separates them from the rotating flow. The probes of the sensor are located in a part of the rotating flow that is free of any liquid phase particles. The internal passage may include an axial swirler and a cylindrical section downstream from the axial swirler. The axial swirler imparts the nonlinear motion to the stream, and tips of the probes are located near a center axis of the cylindrical section so they are free of any liquid phase particles.

  • Patent number: 7752929
Abstract: A sampling device and method for use with a conduit for fluid which has at least one sampling nozzle or sample hole. The sample collected is directed to a manifold where an analysis is conducted and flow rates are measured. The sampled fluid is returned to the conduit. The Static Pressure Control System uses a vacuum pump or other device to equalize the static pressures of the sample nozzle collection manifold and the Static Pressure of the Conduit to achieve the mass-velocity and area-weighted average fluid composition and mass flow rate.

  • Patent number: 7509880
Abstract: Method and device are provided for accurately measuring fluid flow in a conduit. A fluid flow meter conditioning body, in-line with the conduit, conditions the fluid flow so as to provide a flattened and invariant fluid velocity profile. The device provides high immunity to upstream and downstream non-uniform fluid velocity profiles. Fluid diffusers adapt the device to different conduit sizes, eliminate field welding and conduit fittings. In a preferred embodiment thermal convection mass flow sensors and circuitry are used to further improve the accuracy of the measurement of the fluid flow.

  • Patent number: 4566342
Abstract: A flow-rate proportional (isokinetic) sampling probe provided with two identical axial-flow thermal flow sensors whose outputs are used in a differential manner together with a sampling nozzle flow controller to extract a flow-rate proportioned sample of fluid passing thereby, wherein one flow sensor is used to sense the velocity of the fluid and the second flow sensor is used to sense the velocity of the fluid captured by the sampling nozzle, the area of which is the same as that for the flowing fluid such that the differences between the flow sensor outputs is directly used to control the sample flow rate and maintain an isokinetic condition under a wide range of fluid conditions. Two identical temperature sensors used respectively for the flow sensors to automatically adjust the operating temperature of the thermal sensors as the ambient temperature changes.
