  • Publication number: 20030086755
Abstract: For fixing together a construction element and a structural cable, the device has a rigid housing connected to the construction element and surrounding the cable, a wedging structure comprising at least one deformable material arranged between the cable and housing, and load transmitting means arranged to exert a longitudinal compressive force, parallel to the cable, on the wedging structure. The wedging structure is pressed against the cable and the housing under the action of the longitudinal compressive force, so as to offer resistance to movement of the housing and of the construction element parallel to the cable.

  • Publication number: 20030005776
Abstract: Displacement measuring means (15, 16) are fixed onto the structural element. A hole (20, 21) is pierced in the measurement zone and a supply pressure is applied to a flat actuator introduced into the hole. The displacements measured are analyzed as a function of the supply pressure to determine the stress from a supply pressure which roughly compensates for the deformation of the element due to the piercing of the hole. The measuring means comprise two arms (15) that are fixed to the element at two respective anchoring points (X) aligned parallel to a measuring direction, and at least two displacement sensors (16) mounted on the arms on each side of the anchoring points to measure the variations in separation between the anchoring points. The arms (15) leave between them a gap through which the hole is pierced at a central position with respect to the anchoring points.

  • Patent number: 6494910
Abstract: The invention concerns a device for treating presbyopia or other ocular disorders related to any eye accommodation defect. The device (20) includes a piece (22) shaped as a ring portion with an axis of revolution and first (22a) and second (22b) edges offset along radial directions and along the direction of said axis of revolution. The first edge (22a) is disposed to rest, over at least part of its length, on part of the eye internal wall and the second part (22b) is capable of being pressed against a median zone (18c) of zonules of the crystalline lens (18). In this way a displacement of the median zone of said zonules is obtained. This displacement enables them to cause the deformation of the crystalline lens (14) under the effects of stimulation applied to the zonules.

  • Patent number: 6487757
Abstract: A connecting system for connecting a cable including at least one wire for a building work structure and an element of the structure. The connecting system comprises a clamping device which is connected to the element of the structure, and a load transmitting device which transmits a clamping load of the clamping device to the cable and which houses the at least one wire of the cable. The at least one wire is bonded into the load transmitting device.

  • Patent number: 6476326
Abstract: The structural cable has a bundle of substantially parallel tendons contained in at least one plastic protective sheath section. The plastic material of the sheath section extends between the tendons to form a coherent matrix for spacing the tendons. The cable may be used as a pre-stressing cable, a stay cable or a carrying cable for suspension bridges.

  • Publication number: 20020113231
Abstract: The invention addresses the problem of demounting a prestressing cable having a sheath, tendon extending in the sheath and tensioned between two anchoring devices, and a hardened material filling the sheath around the tendons. An energy dissipation device is installed between a zone of the structure and an accessible portion of the cable. The energy dissipation device has a first end applied to a bearing zone and a second end. It is suitable for limiting the force to which it is subjected as a function of the speed of relative displacement between its first and second ends. A first member for retaining the cable is arranged adjacent to the aforesaid portion of the cable. This portion is clamped in a second retaining member engaging the sheath and connected to the second end of the energy dissipation device. The cable can then be severed between the first and second retaining members.

  • Publication number: 20020086158
Abstract: The strand comprises a group of twisted metal wires, a plastic sheath and a pliant filling compound which fills internal interstices between the twisted wires of the group and a peripheral interstice lying between the periphery of the group and the inner face of the sheath. This peripheral interstice has, in a cross section of the strand, an area of between P×emin and 0.6×S2, where P is the external perimeter of the group of wires, emin=0.05 mm and S2 is the cumulative area of the gaps lying between the periphery of the group and the smallest circle within which the group is inscribed.

  • Patent number: 6389764
Abstract: A process of manufacturing concrete construction elements is provided. A first sheath is placed in a first mold, the first sheath connected at an end to a first sleeve applied against a wall of the mold, the sleeve engaging a positioning boss placed on the wall. Concrete is poured into the first mold and set to obtain the first element. The first element is extracted from the first mold and includes a contact face shaped by the wall. A second sheath is placed in a second mold, the second mold having one side formed by the contact face. The second sheath includes an end connected to a second sleeve held in position relative to the first sleeve by a positioning joint. Concrete is poured into the second mold and set to obtain a second element. The second element is extracted from the second mold by disengaging the positioning joint.

  • Patent number: 5479671
Abstract: This relates to a bridge stay formed by a cable (1) which itself is surrounded by a discontinuous sheath composed of identical successive tubular sections (4) having ends which fit together (at 9). This stay comprises an inextensible cablet (10) pulled taut along the cable, on the inside of the successive sheath sections, which cablet is fastened by equidistant fasteners (11), the number of fasteners being equal to that of the sheath sections, each fastener being fixed to a sheath section at a point on this section and the distance (D) between any two successive fasteners fastened to the cablet being equal to the distance between two identical points on two successive sheath sections, which distance is slightly less than the minimum distance envisageable for each section.
