  • Patent number: 7112164
Abstract: A weight lifting bar apparatus usable with free weights which includes two weight bar sections which are angularly oriented upwardly with respect to the main central bar section to facilitate retaining of weights thereon during exercising. The apparatus may also include a yoke means comprising two individual yoke members having an inner concave downwardly facing section and an outer convex downwardly facing section to facilitate contour to against the shoulders and chest area of a user. The design may also include lateral brackets mounted on the weight lifting bar apparatus and defining mounting apertures thereadjacent to facilitate storage upon a weight rack. As many as four different gripping locations can be defined at various positions on the different configurations of the bar apparatus herewithin.

  • Patent number: 4345756
Abstract: An adjustable dumbbell apparatus is disclosed which is particularly adapted to maintain the arms of the exerciser in a straight orientation when used with weighted members which includes a circumferential member defining a hole therethrough through which the arm of the exerciser is adapted to extend. A first and second strut are fixedly secured to the circumferential member to be parallel with respect to the hole therein and extend upwardly therefrom. A grip extends between the upper ends of the struts such that the user can grasp this grip when his arm is extending through the hole in the circumferential member. A weighted support bar is adapted to extend outwardly from the circumferential member and is fixedly secured thereto. The weighted support member extends outwardly perpendicular approximately with respect to the axis of the hole in such a fashion as to use the weights when placed on the weight support member to urge the arm of the exerciser into the straight orientation.

  • Patent number: 4274628
Abstract: A weight lifting bar apparatus particularly usable for leg exercises such as deep knee bends and toe lifts which includes a support bar extending laterally and adapted to be placed generally upon the shoulders of the user and a weight retaining bar extending out of each end of the support bar but axially displaced downwardly therefrom. The weight retaining bar is adapted to receive the weight secured thereto by standardly configured collars. The apparatus further including projecting support members extending downwardly and projecting forwardly from the support bar in order to rest upon the shoulders of the user and facilitate retaining of the apparatus during exercising upon his shoulders. The projecting support members are preferably at an axial angle of approximately 28.degree. with respect to the axis of the displaced weight retaining bar, in this manner, the weight will rest upon the shoulders and back of the user without requiring holding of the bar by his hands.
