  • Publication number: 20200235795
Abstract: The present invention relates to a CSI extraction method in a MIMO receiver used in a wireless communication system, the method including: obtaining an effective channel matrix by matrix multiplication of a precoding matrix and a channel estimation value obtained through a CSI-RS; calculating an upper and a lower bound of a minimum distance for each layer through QR decomposition for the effective channel matrix; and mapping the upper and the lower bound of the minimum distance for each layer to each codeword, and extracting a mean mutual information per bit (MMIB) metric that is a transmission capacity per unit frequency for each codeword. According to the present invention, QR decomposition and a MMIB metric are used to obtain the minimum distance for each layer without a multidimensional search process, whereby the CSI is extracted with fewer operations than the conventional method when the MIMO transmission order is high.

  • Patent number: 8090012
Abstract: An apparatus and method for transmitting and receiving Channel Quality Information (CQI) in a communication system. A Base Station (BS) transmits, to a Subscriber Station (SS), a request for CQI of a resource region corresponding to a frequency reuse factor K, which is designated by the BS. The BS then receives, from the SS, the CQI of the resource region corresponding to a channel quality measured by the SS. The channel quality is measured by the SS by measuring a boosted reference signal and compensating the boosted reference signal for a non-boosted signal.

  • Patent number: 7636571
Abstract: A method for allocating a frequency to a subscriber station (SS) in handover operation in an Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA) system. In the method, the SS checks safety channel frequencies for a target base station (BS), generates a safety channel frequency request message for requesting allocation of the checked safety channel frequencies, and transmits the safety channel frequency request message. Upon receiving the safety channel frequency request message from the SS, a serving BS allocates frequencies for a requested channel, and transmits an allocation message with the frequency allocation information to the SS. The serving BS transmits a channel allocation request message to the target BS according to the frequency allocation information. Upon receiving the channel allocation request message, the target BS allocates the safety channel frequencies to the SS.
