Patent number: 11663910Abstract: Disclosed herein is a handheld speed gun incorporating automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) functionality. As the image size of a vehicle license plate varies depending on its distance from the speed gun, in the present invention the distance to the target vehicle is known through the functionality of the laser sensor so the size of the pixels for the number plate can be estimated. Since the image of the number plate may be tilted in a handheld device, the present invention compensates for this by use of the instrument's tilt sensor or through other compensation by use of the image itself.Type: GrantFiled: November 19, 2019Date of Patent: May 30, 2023Assignees: Laser Technology, Inc., Kama-Tech (HK) LimitedInventors: Ji Yoon Chung, Jeremy G. Dunne

Patent number: 6429389Abstract: The electrical contacts of an integrated circuit are coupled to printed circuit board (PCB) bonding pads that include vias. A method for fabricating an electronic assembly utilizes at least one operation in which a thermally expansive substance, such as a volatile organic compound (VOC), is applied to the PCB. Some of the VOC goes into the via channels. The electrical contacts of a surface mount technology component such as a ball grid array (BGA) component are affixed to the bonding pads using a reflow soldering technique. According to one embodiment, the via channels are formed so as to inhibit bridging between adjacent BGAs during a solder reflow operation by minimizing outgassing of the VOC from the via channels. A substrate and an electronic system are also described.Type: GrantFiled: November 15, 2000Date of Patent: August 6, 2002Assignee: Intel CorporationInventors: Ji Yoon Chung, Stephen C. Joy
