  • Patent number: 6605654
Abstract: A new composition, method, and apparatus for sealing and inflating a flat tire are described. The new composition includes a gas-generating agent and an activator, along with a sealant. In use, a gas propellant is generated in situ when the gas-generating agent is mixed with the activator. For example, carbon dioxide is generated when carbonates, such as baking soda, and an acid are mixed. The carbon dioxide gas generated in this manner can inflate a flat tire to a desired pressure. In addition to carbon dioxide, nitrogen gas, noble gases, and nitrous oxide gas may also be used instead.

  • Patent number: 6510875
Abstract: A new inflating device and method for inflating an inflatable object are described. The inflating device includes two compartments: one containing a gas-generating agent and the other containing an activating agent. When mixed, the gas-generating agent and the activating agent produces a gas in situ. The device further includes an activator connected to both compartments and is capable of effectuating mixing between the two agents upon activation. A hose assembly of the inflating device delivers a the gas generated to an inflatable object, such as a flat tire.

  • Patent number: 6486249
Abstract: The present invention relates generally to the field of release agents commonly in uses in preventing asphalt and other sticky compounds such as rubbers from sticking to the transporting vehicles such as dump truck beds and processing tools, and equipment, and more particularly to a novel biodegradable release agent applied to metal surfaces prior to use for promoting free release of sticky hot-mix asphalt materials from the metal tools and equipment used in road construction applications.

  • Publication number: 20020112777
Abstract: A new sealant container and a tire sealing and inflating device are described. Methods of utilizing the device also are described. The new device includes a sealant container with a sealant composition; but it preferably does not include an internal propellant and preferably is not aerosol-based. In use, the sealant container is connected to a flat tire and to a pressure source which provides an external propellant. As the external propellant passes through the sealant container, the sealant composition inside the sealant container is carried to a flat tire. The tire puncture is sealed by the sealant composition, and the flat tire is inflated by the propellant.

  • Patent number: 6353143
Abstract: A fuel composition with a high flash point and a high octane number is provided. The preferred embodiment of the fuel comprises a paraffin or aromatic hydrocarbon component which may be mixed with an additive of alcohols, ethers, esters, organometallic compounds or mixtures thereof. The fuel composition is useful as emergency fuel for use in gasoline powered vehicles.

  • Patent number: 6217745
Abstract: A method and apparatus uses a flow injection technique for rapidly and accurately determining the level of one or more additives such as antioxidants and/or antiwear agents in a hydrocarbon fluid such as an engine oil. The hydrocarbon fluid is injected into a mobile phase using a microemulsion or organic solvent as the mobile phase and pumped through an electrochemical detection sensor. The electrochemical detention sensor accurately and quickly provides a sharp signal identifying the electroactive species in the hydrocarbon fluid.

  • Patent number: 5518590
Abstract: A sensitive and rapid electrochemical sensor monitors motor oil deterioration, particularly antioxidation property, by determining the antioxidant and antiwear agent level remaining in an oil formulation. The electrochemical sensor is a two- or three-electrode electrochemical cell having a conductive electrolyte liquid or gel-like interphase over the electrode surfaces. The degree of deterioration of a motor oil in service is monitored by measurements of antioxidation or antiwear capacity of the oil. The electrochemical sensor can be used for monitoring other lubricants and hydrocarbons which contain electroactive additives. The electrochemical sensor allows measurements to be performed in-situ, without any chemical or physical pretreatment of the oil.
