    Abstract: A light detection and ranging (LiDAR) system for scanning and reconfiguring regions-of-interest (ROIs) is provided. The system comprises a LiDAR scanner configured to scan a current set of ROIs within a field-of-view (FOV), and a LiDAR perception sub-system coupled to the LiDAR scanner. The LIDAR perception sub-system includes instructions for: obtaining sensor data provided at least by the LiDAR scanner; deriving one or more current perceptions based on the sensor data; obtaining one or more predefined perception policies; determining one or more policy-based ROI candidates; determining whether an ROI reconfiguration request is provided, based on a vehicle perception decision; determining one or more request-based ROI candidates based on the ROI reconfiguration request; and determining a next set of ROIs for the LiDAR scanner to scan based on the current set of ROIs, and one or both of the one or more policy-based ROI candidates and the one or more request-based ROI candidates.

    Abstract: Embodiments implement a prediction-driven, rather than a trial-driven, approach to automate database configuration parameter tuning for a database workload. This approach uses machine learning (ML) models to test performance metrics resulting from application of particular database parameters to a database workload, and does not require live trials on the DBMS managing the workload. Specifically, automatic configuration (AC) ML models are trained, using a training corpus that includes information from workloads being run by DBMSs, to predict performance metrics based on workload features and configuration parameter values. The trained AC-ML models predict performance metrics resulting from applying particular configuration parameter values to a given database workload being automatically tuned. Based on correlating changes to configuration parameter values with changes in predicted performance metrics, an optimization algorithm is used to converge to an optimal set of configuration parameters.

    Abstract: A hybrid power-generator system includes an engine, an electric generator, first and second rectifiers, first and second DC-DC voltage converters, a DC bus, an inverter, and one or more controllers. The system provides a unique method of joining two power sources such that the relative proportion utilized can be changed to any value seamlessly, such as to avoid daily and/or seasonal variations in utility charges. Since the AC output portion of the circuit is independent of the utility grid, power can be supplied at variable frequencies to motor loads with significant positive impacts in load efficiency. Power increases required by the load(s) that occur rapidly can utilize the electrical grid to assist for the brief transient, allowing the engine, which is maintained at a fixed and wide-open-throttle position, to continue operation and in a more gradual process to resume its blend target for power generation.
