  • Publication number: 20160105838
Abstract: Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, a device that determines each of a default downlink forwarding address of a first interface of a user plane and a currently used downlink forwarding address of the first interface of the user plane. One of an uplink user data packet comprising an origination address of a second interface of the user plane, a downlink user data packet comprising a destination address of the second interface of the user plane or both are received, by way of the user plane. One of the default downlink forwarding address, the currently used downlink forwarding address or both can be modified based on the uplink origination address, the destination address or both. Modification of the default downlink forwarding address, the currently used downlink forwarding address or both results in a redirection of an associated packet flow within the user plane. Other embodiments are disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20150117320
Abstract: A system that incorporates the subject disclosure may include, for example, facilitating establishing a first interface between a processor and the system where the system performs a policy and charging rules function in a mobile communications network and where the first interface bypasses a packet data network gateway and a serving gateway, facilitating establishing a second interface between the processor and the system where the second interface utilizes the packet data network gateway and the serving gateway, providing a first message from the processor to the system via the first interface where the first message is associated with a quality of service authorization, and receiving a second message from the system via the first interface where the second message is associated with the quality of service authorization. Other embodiments are disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20150085845
Abstract: A system that incorporates the subject disclosure may include, for example, receiving from a wireless device a request for a network connection and facilitating, in response to the request, a communication session between a wireless access node in communication with the wireless device and a packet data network. Control signals are exchanged between a second network device and a packet data network gateway. The second network device includes a mobility anchoring function and operating in an evolved packet core of a long term evolution system. Eligibility of the wireless communication device to participate in a direct tunnel connection is determined, the direct tunnel allowing transfer of user data packets between the wireless device and packet data network to bypass the mobility anchoring function. Establishment of the direct tunnel connection is facilitated to transfer multiple user data packets between the wireless device and the packet data network. Other embodiments are disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20150071125
Abstract: A system that incorporates the subject disclosure may include, for example, receive a subscription from an application server where the subscription identifies a session event and/or sub-events occurring in a communication session for which the application server requests user location information, provide subscription information based on the subscription to core network nodes of the mobile communications network, receive user location information from the core network nodes responsive to a detection of a triggering event corresponding to the session event of the subscription, and provide the user location information to an IP multimedia subsystem network for delivery to the application server. Other embodiments are disclosed.

  • Patent number: 8897285
Abstract: System(s), device(s), and method(s) are provided to characterize a temporary identifier for user equipment (UE) in telecommunication procedure(s) in a wireless communication network. Based on radio technology of at least one serving node that enables at least part of the telecommunication procedure(s), the UE generates a TI and a classifier that discloses the type of the TI. The classifier enables distinguishing a TI value in a first radio technology from a TI value in a second radio technology. In addition the classifier enables a serving node that receives the classifier to identify a logic address of a disparate serving node without restriction in backwards compatibility amongst radio protocols utilized by the wireless communication network.

  • Publication number: 20140161065
Abstract: Aspects describe renegotiation of quality of service parameters to resolve maximum bit rate mismatches and/or other quality of service parameter mismatching issues that might arise during an inter-radio access technology handover. At about the same time as a mobile device moves from a source network to a target network, the target network dynamically initiates a quality of service modification procedure. The quality of service modification procedure can help resolve the maximum bit rate mismatches and/or the other quality of service parameter mismatching issues.

  • Patent number: 7522565
Abstract: A wireless communication network is disclosed comprising a base station system, a switching system, and a transport network. The transport network comprises a conventional signaling network configured to transport call signaling and a bearer network configured to transport user communications. The bearer network also transports call signaling, as special connections are established and a portion of the capacity of the special connections are reserved for transporting call signaling. In response to receiving call signaling from a mobile wireless device or a packet data network, the base station system or the switching system determines if the call signaling is for a low latency service. If the call signaling is for a low latency service, then the base station system or the switching system forwards the call signaling over the special connection. If not, then the base station system or the switching system transmits the call signaling over the conventional signaling network.
