  • Patent number: 9004035
Abstract: A starter motor for an internal combustion engine has an electric motor, a shaft driven by the motor, and a pinion assembly arranged to engage a flywheel of the engine. The pinion assembly has a drive collar mounted to a helical spline of the shaft, an output gear and an elastic member disposed between the drive collar and the output gear. A connection shell prevents axial separation between the drive collar and the output gear. The elastic member prevents direct contact between the connection shell and at least one and possibly both of the drive collar and the output gear.

  • Publication number: 20140181968
Abstract: Concepts and technologies disclosed herein are for monitoring operational activities in networks and detecting potential network intrusions and misuses. According to one aspect disclosed herein, an intrusion detection system can collect logs from an authentication, authorization, and accounting system. The intrusion detection system can extract information from the logs, update intrusion detection information utilized by an intrusion detection rule based upon the information extracted from the logs, update a profile utilized by the intrusion detection rule, compare the profile and the intrusion detection rule against a running state of an on-going session, tag corresponding log entries with a threat score, calculate the threat scores from the corresponding log entries to create an aggregated threat score, and present the aggregated threat score. The intrusion detection system can also present an alarm if the aggregated threat score triggers an alarm condition.

  • Publication number: 20140122002
Abstract: A power consumption detector includes a first resistor, an amplification unit, a voltage divider and a processing unit. A first end of the first resistor, coupled to the object, receives a current from the object during working. An amplification unit has a first input end coupled to a second end of the first resistor and a second input end receiving the working voltage. The amplification has an output end generating an amplification signal. A voltage divider, coupled to the output end of the amplification unit, is used for receiving the amplification signal and generating a voltage division signal. A processing unit, coupled to the voltage divider, is used for receiving the voltage division signal, calculating the current flowing through the first resistor and power consumption of the object upon the current and the working voltage. The power consumption detector is applied to a motherboard or a fan board.

  • Patent number: 8077738
Abstract: A method for routing packets sent from a user to the internet is provided for systems in which the user is connected to a private network. The method includes: extracting a source network address from the packet; using said source network address to retrieve a user profile for the user; examining said user profile to determine whether to route the packet through the private network or to route the packet directly to the Internet; and routing said packet according to said profile. This allows a user or network provider to choose whether to route packets destined for the Internet directly to the Internet rather than through the private network, thus preventing excessive network traffic on the private network.
