  • Patent number: 8372021
Abstract: This invention relates to a measuring device, which includes a body. A digital display is located in the body, the digital display being configured to show at least a linear measurement. The measuring device also includes a holding portion coupled to the body and configured to slidably engage an elongate member, such as a catheter or introducer sheath, in a space provided between the holding portion and the body. The measuring device also includes a sensor or transducer located in the body and configured to measure at least a linear distance traveled by the elongate member, such that the linear measurement is associated with the linear distance.

  • Patent number: 7879014
Abstract: One example of a media delivery system includes a burrette defining a chamber and having inlet and outlet connections in fluid communication with the chamber. The burrette further includes a vent assembly configured for fluid communication with the chamber. In addition, a float and seat assembly of the media delivery system include a buoyant float positioned in the chamber of the burette, where the float is arranged for movement within the chamber. The float and seat assembly further includes a seat assembly positioned in the chamber of the burrette and configured to cooperate with the float to manage a flow of fluid through the outlet connection of the chamber. Finally, a fluid management device is provided that is located proximate the inlet to the chamber.

  • Patent number: 7731699
Abstract: The present invention relates to a turbulence minimization apparatus comprising a float and seat assembly adapted to control turbulence and formation of microbubbles in a quantity of contrast media in the burette of a contrast media delivery system. The float includes an upper convex surface providing an impact surface for droplets of contrast media which fall from the inlet of the burette, a lower convex surface for sealing a drainage bore when the volume of contrast media has been substantially drained from the burette, and a predetermined amount of buoyancy. The seat assembly includes a plurality of fluid passageways that allow contrast media to contact the lower convex surface of the float allowing the buoyancy of the float to separate the float from the drainage bore when there is more than a predetermined amount of fluid in the drip chamber.

  • Patent number: 6179816
Abstract: An improved catheter includes a double spiral configuration of infusion holes around the circumference and along the length of the catheter which provides an improved lateral dispersion of a thrombolytic fluid to more completely and quickly lyse a clot through which the catheter is passing. The double spiral configuration consists of groups or sets of infusion holes, typically groups of four. The holes in each set are longitudinally spaced from each other at substantially regular intervals along the length of the catheter. Each successive hole in a given group is circumferentially spaced by an angular distance of about 90° around the circumference of the catheter relative to the immediately preceding hole. Each group of holes is circumferentially spaced or offset by an angular distance of between 1° and 89° relative to the immediately preceding group of holes. Typically, the angular spacing between successive groups of holes is 18°.

  • Patent number: 6059759
Abstract: A catheter system including an infusion catheter interacting with an occluding wire. The infusion catheter has an interior surface defining a lumen longitudinally extending between a proximal end and a distal end. The interior surface of the catheter includes a cylindrical first portion positioned at the proximal end, a cylindrical second portion positioned at the distal end, and an annular, sloped, tapered portion extending therebetween. The second portion terminates at a tip opening. An annular sensing ridge radially inwardly projecting around the tip opening. A plurality of small infusion holes extend through the side of the infusion catheter proximal of the tapered portion. The occluding wire includes a thin placement wire having an enlarged occluding ball placed at the distal end thereof. Projecting from the occluding ball on the side opposite the positioning wire is a coiled spring wire. The spring wire has ridges formed by the top of the wire and grooves formed between each coil.

  • Patent number: 5968017
Abstract: A fluid infusion system includes a pump having a body that slidably interacts with a handle. The body includes a valve housing fluid coupled with an inlet passageway, an outlet passageway, and a dispensing barrel. A finger rest rigidly projects from the dispensing barrel. A loading chamber is recessed within the finger rest and is configured to receive a fluid supply syringe. A plunger, mounted to the handle, is slidably received within the dispensing barrel. As the plunger is advanced within the barrel, fluid is dispensed from the pump. As the plunge is retracted within the barrel, the barrel is automatically filed with a fluid. The nozzle of the pump is fluid coupled to a hemostasis valve which is in turn fluid coupled to an infusion catheter. The infusion catheter has a distal end with an enlarged tip opening and a plurality of small infusion holes extending through the side thereof. An annular sensing ridge radially inwardly projects from the interior of the catheter at the tip opening.
